Sony’sPS5event pulled out all the stops, revealing a little something for everyone, some big games likeSpider-Man: Miles Morales, and even theofficial PS5 console design. No one walked away disappointed, but there were a few games fan were hoping to see that weren’t there.

For one reason or another (which, if known, is elaborated upon below), many of these games were ‘missing’ from thePS5event.

Call of Duty 2020

Prior to the event, rumors about aboutCall of Duty 2020, whether that’s officially titledCall of Duty Black OpsorCall of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, were abound about it being revealed there. On the one hand, it made perfect sense becauseCall of Dutygames are usually revealed well before June, and it was already passed its typical May reveal date. Rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt though, such is the case here. Some bigCall of Dutyinsiders confirmed just before the event that it wouldn’t be there; instead, the plan is for alive event inCall of Duty: Warzoneto revealCall of Duty 2020. Recent reports indicate this won’t be soon, however.

Silent Hill

A lot of horror fans had high expectations for the show, and with theconfirmation ofResident Evil 8, no one was disappointed. Rumors and leaks had pegged a newSilent Hillgame for the show, but those turned out untrue. However, one of the most prominent leakers in this specific area, Dusk Golem, was never 100% it would be there, but he was certain withRE8. Golem still seems confident that a newSilent Hillin the works, so fans will just need to wait and see what and where it comes from.

Final Fantasy 16/7 Remake

Several big wigs in the industry commented on the possibility ofFinal Fantasyappearing at the event in some form, whether that’s the to-be-announcedFinal Fantasy 16many predicted would have a summer revealor an update on theFinal Fantasy 7 Remake(a PS5 version or Part 2). Nonetheless, neither were there despite many hoping there would be. There’s not much in the way in explanation as to why not, but at the same time, there was really no tease or hint that it would be. Many want an update on the next part ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, so hopefully, at least that comes some time soon.

Bloodborne

Bloodborneis another name that has been on everyone’s tongue, yet it was not at the show. Bluepoint Games did confirm itsDemon’s Soulsremake, so it’s not that surprising; after all, rumor has it thatBloodborneis coming to PC. Having both games there would be a bit over board, so while this still seems likely, players should expect it to come somewhere else later this summer. As a PC port, the likeliest thing at this time is the upcomingPC Gaming Show.

God of War

Arguably, Sony’s biggest exclusive franchises right now areSpider-Man, Horizon, andGod of War. So the fact that 2/3 were there is more than enough for some fans, as the standaloneSpider-Man: Miles MoralesandHorizon: Forbidden Westwas more than what many expected. There’s little doubt thataGod of Warsequelis in development, and that fact alone is a PS5 console seller. Since it released in 2018 and would be a full-blown sequel, it’s not surprising that it’s currently MIA. There’s no doubt that it’ll eventually happen, though, so fans should just be patient for the return of Kratos and Atreus.
