Amazon has officially launched its first pre-order for one of the PS5 and Xbox Series X’s upcoming games. The next-gen consoles still don’t have a price or release date, but Amazon’s not going to let that stop it from taking advantage of the growing gamer hype. The game in question isScarlet Nexus, a multiplatform action game.Scarlet Nexusis a cross-gen game, coming to both PS4 and Xbox One, too. But it’s also now pre-orderable for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, too.
Exactly why pre-orders forScarlet Nexuson next-gen consoles have gone live isn’t clear. It’s possible that pre-orders went up for the current generation version of the game, the PS4 and Xbox One version, and that the next-gen options were activated by accident. It’s also possible thatScarlet Nexusreceived approval to put up pre-orders.Xbox has already confirmed the game for the Xbox Series X, at the very least.

Scarlet Nexuswas confirmed for the PS5, too, though it hasn’t been formally showcased on the console like it was on the Xbox Series X. However,Scarlet Nexusmay have been planned to be shown during Sony’s PS5 game event that was originally scheduled for this last week. It was delayed and doesn’t have a current release date. However, if it had been revealed, pre-orders going live afterward would have made sense.
What makes the listing such an interesting event is that no otherPS5 or Xbox Series Xgames have been listed for pre-order yet.ScarletNexus is unique in that regard. This means that either a mistake has been made or Bandai Namco received special accommodation to put up its listing forScarlet Nexus.
There will eventually be a deluge of PS5 and Xbox Series X games going up for pre-order. That often happens during E3 as dozens of games are revealed for the first time. With no E3 this year, no central event to organize around, when those pre-orders will go live isn’t clear. They didn’t go live during theXbox Series X event in May, for example. Perhaps they’re simply waiting for the PS5 event.
Regardless, both the PS5 and theXbox Series X are launching this holiday season. They’ll have a ton of launch games coinciding with each console’s release. Pre-orders for those games are coming. PerhapsScarlet Nexus' listing means those pre-orders are coming sooner than may have been expected.
Scarlet Nexusreleases soon on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
