After making his return to the big screen as the web-slinging hero inSpider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield has been thrust back into the superhero spotlight. As fans have rallied behind him with hopes of seeing him return, Garfield has a few conditions on what would get him back on set.

Prior to hisSpider-Man: No Way Homereturn, Garfield had not portrayed Spider-Man since 2014 following the premiere ofThe Amazing Spider-Man 2. Unlike his predecessor, Tobey Maguire, and successor, Tom Holland, Garfield never receivedthe third installment in his soloSpider-Manfranchise.No Way Homehas now given fans of Garfield’s Spider-Man another reason to call forThe Amazing Spider-Man’s revival.

Garfield recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where he dished out new information aboutNo Way Homeand his involvement in the film. When asked ifhe would consider returning as Spider-Man, Garfield agreed that he would, but only if the circumstances were right. “In terms of moving forward with the character, yes, I am definitely open to that,” Garfield said. “And again, it would have to be something very unique, very special, and of service to an audience, of service to the character.” Given the dark journey Garfield’s Spider-Man has had over the course ofThe Amazing Spider-Man’stwo films, there are a lot of ways to explore this character further and Garfield recognizes this. “I think there’s something playful and unique and odd and unexpected to be done,” Garfield said. “I’m not sure what that is, but if we can figure that out, that would be so much fun.”

Garfield went on to discuss many other Spider-Man-related hopes with the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “And also, I would love tocontinue working with Tobey and with Tom,” Garfield said. “That three brother dynamic is so juicy, I’m just going to honestly say, I’m so happy and satisfied and grateful to be a part of this, that it’s hard to want more right now.” The “three brother dynamic” Garfield mentions begins to take precedent in the second half ofNo Way Homeafter Holland’s character suffers a huge personal loss. This newfound family arrived just when he needed them most.

In his Spider-Man-inspired conversation with the podcast, Garfield also revealed that fans weren’t the only people he lied to about his return. For months, Garfield has refuted initial claims that he was apart of theSpider-Man: No Way Homecast, and has spoken about his difficulty in maintaining the secret throughout the leaks over the summer. However, Garfield revealed that he even kept the truth hidden from hisAmazing Spider-Manco-star Emma Stone, who he says called him “a jerk” after she saw the film.

Garfield has always been a fan of the Spider-Man character and whether he will receive the chance to play the web-slinging hero again remains to be seen. Even if Garfield does not ever receive the film fans have been calling for,No Way Homeoffered Garfield and fans ofThe Amazing Spider-Mansome much-needed closure.
