Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as with other games in the series, provides players with an entire island and home to decorate. To do so, players come across unique items at Nook’s Cranny, get them through interactions with fellow villagers, and even shoot them down from balloons. OneAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayer recently compiled all their maple syrup themed items and showed off a Sugar Shack inspired home in a recent post.
Animal Crossing: New Horizonswas released in March 2020 and is the fifth main entry inthe long-runningAnimal Crossingseries. As with other titles in the series, the game is a life-simulator that allows players to alter their home and landscape and collect decorations.

This post by u/IslaBubba shows off an impressively decorated part of their island. Viewers will immediately be reminded of a number of things when they see this post: maple syrup, Buddy the Elf, and Canada. First and foremost, u/IslaBubba has effectively created a Sugar Shack, where the sap of maple trees gets boiled and made into maple syrup, on their island. The player’s home design and the addition on the side of the house make it look just like these wooden cabins that are so important for the production of maple syrup. Secondly, the title of the post is a direct reference to the holiday movieElfand the main character’s obsession with maple syrup. And finally, the combination of maple syrup items with the snow-covered cabin and trees can’t help but remind players of the country best known for that items' creation: Canada.
To recreate this look, players are going to need to do a great deal of work. Unfortunately, items come to players at random and so there is no way to guarantee that any of these items will show up on player’s islands. On top of this, u/IslaBubba notes that some of their items were retrieved fromworking with the Happy Home Paradise DLCand so players may need to purchase that to match this scene.
Whether this is a tribute to Canada or just a recreation of a Sugar Shack and maple syrup isn’t clear but, what is clear, is the hard work required for this post.Animal Crossing: New Horizonshas a long list of itemsthat players can use to decorate and to get this many that fit the player’s theme must have taken quite a while.
It does, however, point out how difficult it is to get the items that players want in the game. Some players may not see some of themore impressive items inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsafter weeks or even months of playing. Fortunately, for this player, they were able to compile an impressive collection that should inspire othersAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers.
