Summary
Apex Legendshas revealed the patch notes for the mid-season collection event, Double Take, which goes live on July 03, 2025. EA is making some big changes toApex Legends' characters and weapons with the first event in Season 21: Upheaval. This includes buffs for certain weapons and legends, changes in character abilities, and a huge nerf for Bloodhound.
Apex’s Season 21 is bringing more changes to core mechanics than ever. Itreverted to the oldApex Legendsrank rewards systemand introduced a new legend named Alter, who is altering the meta. Now with the mid-season patch, this shift is reaching a whole new level and bringing changes to core game mechanics that were part ofApexsince Season 0. From the dev notes, it’s evident that EA and Respawn are aiming to shift the existing meta and explore new horizons.

EA’s patch notes for the mid-season eventreveal thatApex Legendsis finally getting a Quads modewhere each squad can have four legends instead of the regular three. The G7 Scout is getting damage and fire rate buffs with adjusted recoil, while the Havoc rifle is getting its mag size reduced. The Longbow DMR is getting a headshot multiplier buff from 2.15 to 2.25, which will make it more effective once again. The rarity sets for Peacekeeper, Charge Rifle, and Sentinel are all getting the optics changed for the better. The saddest change regardingApex Legends' weapons and attachments is the 4x-10x Digital Threat scope nerf, where the scope will no longer highlight enemies through smoke or gas.
Apex Legends' Season 21: Upheaval Seems to Be a Season of Change
Several legends inApexare getting their abilities tweaked with the Double Take collection event as well. The biggest change is thehuge nerfApex’s Bloodhound is getting, where they will no longer have threat vision through smoke or gas. Bloodhound is also getting a full rework in terms of their level upgrades. The second-biggest change in abilities is that legends will now have a white silhouette when fighting inside Bangalore’s smoke, visible within 20 meters. Crypto’s EMP will now hit all legends phased through Alter’s Tac ability, Void Passage. Revenant and Pathfinder’s level 3 upgrades will now refresh their Tac abilities on both knocks and assisted knocks within a three-second window.
Entry costs and kill points inApex Legends' ranked mode have also been reworked to make them more player-friendly. There are also several bug fixes and quality-of-life changes that EA listed in the patch notes. It seems like Season 21 is one where the most effective meta elements are being challenged. At first,Apexintroduced a new meta with Alter, and now with the Bloodhound and Bangalore nerfs, several old meta elements will probably become obsolete. ThoughApex Legendsfans and pros are not welcoming these nerfs, there’s a solid chance that this will give birth to new and exciting strategies.
