Despite looking like a promising game with good ideas,Redfall’s launch was marked by numerous problemssuch as poor performance.

But the release of an official job opening shows that Arkane hasn’t given up onRedfallyet, as the studio is looking for a new Senior Combat Designer to work on the game. Even with all the problems and the plummeting player count,Redfallrecently got a major updateto fix dozens of issues. According to the job description released by Arkane,Redfall’s new Senior Combat Designer will have several responsibilities geared toward “creating a deep combat experience.” The Senior Combat Designer will also be expected to work on balancingRedfall, fixing bugs, and making improvements to all aspects of the game.
Redfall’s chaotic release became one of the most talked-about stories of the year and one of the most controversial releases along with Square Enix’sForspoken. The result was so negative that it wasn’t long beforeRedfallbecame one of the lowest-rated games on Metacritic and Steam.Redfallalso left the list of the 50 most-played Xbox games less than a month after release. The situation became more uncomfortable asmanyRedfalldevs wanted the game canceled, indicating that the problems would be far greater than the public could imagine.
Shortly after the release ofRedfall, the appearance of a job opening revealed thatArkane was already thinking about its next game. While this job opening may have hinted that Arkane will not invest as much time inRedfall, the new Senior Combat Designer job opening shows the studio is giving the project a second chance. Players can only wait to see ifRedfallcan redeem itself from its negative track record and finally join the list of good games released by Arkane Studios.
