Ubisoft Blue Byte is currently looking for a Senior Level Designer to join the team in Dusseldorf for a newAssassin’s Creedtitle. This project is unlike previous entries and will take theAssassin’s Creedfranchise in a new direction.
This new project (if seen through to completion/release) is possibly the thirdAssassin’s Creedtitle currently in the works, the VR project that has been reportedly codenamed Nexus. One game that has been confirmed to be in production isAssasssin’s Creed: Infinity. Little is known about the project, other than it is set to be a massive live-service title that will feature multiple settings for players to explore. The other game rumored to be in production is what the industry has come to know asAssassin’s Creed Rift. This is reportedly set to be a stealth-based title reminiscent of the olderAssassin’s Creedentries, with Basim fromAssassin’s Creed Valhallaas the playable character.

The third project, reportedly codenamed Nexus, is being headed up by Ubisoft Blue Byte and is set to take the series into a realm of gaming thatAssassin’s Creedhasn’t delved into before, VR. The job advert on Indeed doesn’t give too much away in relation to what the game could be like. However, it does state that the Senior Level Designer will be implementing multiple biomes/level styles, along with creating indoor and outdoor environments. This won’t be the first time that Ubisoft has dabbled in the VR space, the company is currently developing aVR firefighting game based on the Notre Dame fire, but it’s still a first forAC.
Although the job advert is proof that something VR related is in store forAssassin’s Creed, there is no telling whether it is a standalone VR title or an add-on to an already existing or future mainline entry in the series. There have been rumors in the past thatVR adaptions ofAssassin’s Creedwere in the works, while other rumors paint this as a collection of VR adventures featuring past assassins. In spite of these rumors, no VR project has come to light yet, nor have any announcements.
Coming off the back of Ubisoft’sAssassin’s Creedcelebration, theseries is in a peculiar place right now. Fans have a roadmap for the short term at the very least, with the announcement that the latest entry,Assassin’s Creed Valhallais receiving a final story chapterthis winter. It’ll be interesting to see if the September event, however, will show off more ofAC’s future, including the Nexus VR project.
Assassin’s Creed Nexusis reportedly in development.
