One of 2023’s best indie games,Planet of Lana, is coming to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch almost a full year after its initial release.Planet of Lanafirst launched in late May 2023 as aday one Xbox Game Pass title, simultaneously releasing on PC, but unfortunately leaving Switch and PlayStation gamers waiting for another year.
A 2D puzzle platforming adventure game,Planet of Lanastuns with its light, watercolor art style. As they explore lush forests and sandy desert biomes, players enlist the help of Mui, a small cat-like creature that proves useful in solving the game’s many cleverly-designed puzzles and evading the rogue robot threats. In a stretch wheremassive AAA games likeStar Wars Jedi: Survivor, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo 4, and others dominated the gaming atmosphere,Planet of Lanastill managed to stand out for fans of smaller indie games who adored the game’s striking art style and well-thought-out puzzles.
Planet of Lana Is Now Available On PlayStation and Nintendo Switch
Since launching last Spring,Planet of Lanahas caught the attention of several high-profile award shows. Its brilliant soundtrack, composed by Takeshi Furukawa, was nominated at the DICE Awards. It was also up for a Golden Joystick Award, and even earned 2023 Xbox Game of the Year from Edge Magazine over Xbox games likeStarfield,Hi-Fi Rush, andForza Motorsport. There’s currently a flood of interesting new indie games that are set to come out in the coming days, likeAnother Crab’sTreasure, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and thefreshly releasedHarold Halibut. That being said,Planet of Lanais still very much worth picking up on Switch and PlayStation, even among the slew of brand-new indies that are dropping.
Now thatPlanet of Lanais available on every major platform, it’ll be interesting to see what developer Wishfully will cook up next. SincePlanet of Lanawas the studio’s debut game, and considering the high praise the title has received, there will no doubt be a following eagerly awaiting any news from Wishfully regarding its next project. Though, sincePlanet of Lanaonly just came out last year, it still might be too soon to expect any news from Wishfully at this year’supcoming Summer Game Fest.
