Electronic Arts is getting ready to release the nextBattlefieldtitle in November and according to DICE, the open beta just scratched the surface of what’s possible inBattlefield 2042. According to a recentBattlefield 2042update, the game will feature a big map and ping system at launch.

Battlefield 2042recently had an open beta in which players could get an idea of what to expect from the next title in the series. The open beta focused on a handful of specialists, several weapons, and the conquest map “Orbital.” The open beta included a ping system that felt familiar toBattlefieldfans, but DICE has confirmed that this feature will be more advanced whenBattlefield 2042officially releases.

DICE recently stated that the ping system wasn’t working according to plan duringtheBattlefield 2042open beta, but developers assure fans that the feature will be more responsible when players are pinging assets, locations, enemy soldiers, etc. Pinging in previousBattlefieldtitles mostly centered on pointing to specific locations and enemies, but the revamped ping system will allowBattlefield 2042players to ping more things.

According to DICE, the big map feature wasn’t part of theBattlefield 2042open beta because it caused some debilitating bugs which have been fixed since. Several fans were able to locate references to the big map in theBattlefield 2042open beta key bindings, but DICE ensured that the feature was disabled. The big map feature is part of theBattlefield 2042user interfacethat allows players to scout the map and let their squadmates know what location to head towards.

The big map feature just brings up a large version of the mini-map in order to see where each Conquest point is, locate allied and enemy soldiers, find where vehicles are, and more. According todevelopers at DICE, the big map can be opened by pressing the View button on Xbox, Touchpad button on PlayStation, or M on PC. The big map can be opened at any point during a match inBattlefield 2042.

Pinging is nothing new to gaming, butApex Legendsrecently popularized it, resulting in several more games adopting the feature. Pinging helps players share important intel with teammates that might not have a headset. BecauseApex Legends' ping system is so robust and EA is the publisher of both the popular battle royale andBattlefield 2042,Battlefieldfans may see a significant improvement compared to previous titles in the series.

Battlefield 2042releases for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
