Summary
Blasphemous 2sees the Penitent One take on The Miracle once again. With the Mea Culpa missing, the Penitent One needs a weapon to brandish against those who stand in his way. Fortunately, the game offers three new ones that possess immense power and can be switched at any time during battle, as well as be used to solve several different puzzles.
But in terms of damage, utility, and cool factor, which ofthe Penitent One’s new weaponsprovides the most power when dealing with all manner of enemies and bosses? From wielding a sword and dagger to a huge church-related instrument-turned-implement, there are some interesting options to choose from, but some of the weapons available inBlasphemous 2are simply better than others, even if only three are available.

Updated on Jun 22, 2025, by Gerardo Molina:As it happens with many games in this genre, the best weapon will vary depending on each player’s preferences and playstyle. Some might prefer a balanced offense strategy that combines enough damage per hit to make a dent while also retaining considerable speed. For those players, Ruego al Alba will be the best choice. On the other hand, if players want to be able to strike at their enemies as fast as possible, even if this means doing less damage per hit, then Sarmiento and Centella are the way to go. And if speed isn’t that important and players would rather melt bosses’ health bars with a few hits, then Veredicto should be their weapon of choice.
3Ruego Al Alba
A Perfectly Balanced Weapon
Ruego Al Albais this game’s version of the Mea Culpa from the firstBlasphemoustitle. It is a one-handed blade that can be swung at enemies with considerable range. The Ruego Al Albainherited some skillsfrom the Mea Culpa, starting with the latter’s combo string. Players who choose this as their starting weapon have access to a three-hit combo right off the bat and a strong dive attack called Weight of Sin that gets stronger the higher the player is in the air before performing the move.
As far as handling, the Ruego Al Alba is the most balanced among the three weapons. Its strikes are decently fast, and its combos ramp up in damage, provided they hit their target with each successive strike. It also has Blood Pact, which is activated once its meter is full. Activating this provides players with lifesteal as long as they are striking enemies with Ruego Al Alba and the meter is still active. Blood Pact also grants new abilities, butplayers need to unlock themby spending Marks of Martyrdom to upgrade its Weapon Memories.

Although Ruego al Alba can be used to defeat every boss in the game, sometimes other weapons are better, as, in certain situations, faster attacks or more damage per hit are needed to avoid struggling excessively. This weapon is required to destroy the various wooden barriers scattered across Custodia, which unlock new areas and allow players to face different challenges, find valuable items, and discover more things of interest.
2Sarmiento and Centella
Quick Strikes At The Cost Of Low Damage Per Hit
For players that want more speedy cuts and dashing strikes, the weapons they should start with are theSarmiento and Centella. This weapon has the Penitent One dual-wield a sword and dagger to land a number of quick hits that can critically strike. It also inherited the lunging attack from the Mea Culpa that allows players to close the distance and preemptively strike at enemies. That said, players running this weapon should practice discipline, since they can run the risk of getting as many hits against enemies until they get smacked by the opponent in retaliation.
The Sarmiento and Centella are also imbued with lightning. Hitting enemies consecutively empowers the weapon, and once it reaches its threshold, it gets lightning elemental damage. Its Weapon Memoriesalso help bolster its effectiveness, and it is deadly when it’s activated. However, just as quickly as players can activate it, one hit from an enemy will cancel out this weapon’s charges. On traversal, this weapon iscrucial to get acrosscertain areas as players explore each section of the map. During the more time-sensitive platform puzzles, players need to develop the muscle memory of switching between these and other weapons to ensure they get the job done as quickly and easily as they possibly can.

Sarmiento and Centella are probably the closest players can get to weapons meant for a Dexterity build inDark Souls. However, since there is no scaling with a Dexterity inBlasphemous, there’s a limit to what these weapons can do outside of being extremely fast and agile. While other weapons, like Ruego al Alba, can be used without switching to defeat bosses, it’s strongly recommended to combine other weapons with Sarmiento and Centella to get the most efficient damage possible.
1Veredicto
Slower Strikes, High Damage Output
Veredictois a large censer that the Penitent One swings like a morning star. Among the three weapons, it is the slowest, but what it lacks in speed, it more than makes up for in strength and range. Getting the hang of the Veredicto’s arcs when swinging takes a bit of time to get used to, but once players become familiar with it, this weapon can swathe enemies in quick order and succession. Since it’s a ball-and-chain, it is the Penitent One’s go-to weapon for smacking flying enemies.
Players can also whirl the Veredicto to spike up its damage output even further by kneeling down and spamming the attack button, but it has limited range, so players need to be beside their intended target in order to ensure that this attack is successful. This attack isgreat for bossesthanks to the variety of moves that come with it. Given its slower speed, players must be very disciplined and willing to understand that they can only get one or two hits in per window of opportunity. If they can manage to do that, Veredicto is the ultimate weapon of mass destruction, but if they get greedy, death awaits.

Veredicto also possesses fire attacks. Players need to upgrade Veredicto’s Weapon Memories to access it, and it deals explosive fire damage, which is great for clearing out groups of enemies. Players can also charge its swing for a devastating smash, and its upgraded form creates a rippling effect in a line where the Penitent One is facing. For certain puzzles, the Veredicto is essential to ring the bells that create platforms from floating liquid metals and open steel doors, making it an incredibly versatile weapon to have on hand.
