Nintendofans are anxious for more news about what’s coming to the platform in 2020. Whether it’s due to the COVID-19 pandemic or release schedule woes, launches on theNintendo Switchhave been thinner than usual this year. It’s no surprise then that fans have latched onto a mysterious announcement to be made soon. Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream is teasing the announcement, saying a new Nintendo Switch game will be revealed in its September issue.

The announcement was made in the latest copy of Nintendo Dream, as reported by Nintendo Everything. It’s also clarified that due to the language used, it isn’t clear whether it will be a single game announcement or multiple. Nevertheless, it seems at least oneannouncement is coming for the Nintendo Switchbefore too long.

Unfortunately, Nintendo Dream doesn’t provide much in terms of detail regarding the upcoming reveal, and there’re no real hints or teasers to build any speculation out of. The only description that was provided is that the Switch game will be something “that everyone will enjoy.” That could mean that it’s a game from a franchise everyone is familiar with, or it could be afamily game or an all-ages game.

The only other detail revealed for the September issue of Nintendo Dream is that it will feature an interview with Toshiyuki Toyonaga. Toyonaga is a voice actor whose best-known gaming work is as Claude von Riegan inFire Emblem: Three Houses. They’re also set to voice a character in the upcoming anime movieSailor Moon Eternal: The Movie -Part 1-. While it’s unlikely Toyonaga is related to the announcement, anything is possible.

While the ambiguity of the tease is certain to build up Nintendo Switch gamers' hopes, everyone should probably temper their expectations somewhat. A major announcement isn’t likely to be made in a Japanese magazine with little fanfare, though that doesn’t mean it won’t be a game worth looking forward to. The moreNintendo Switch game announcements, the better.

Just because this is one of the few (or only) supposedly upcoming Nintendo Switch announcements currently known doesn’t mean that it’s all planned for 2020, though. There’s bound to be more Nintendo Directs this year, andPikmin 3 Deluxeis certainly not the only big Nintendo Switch exclusive coming in these final months of the year. A bit of patience is certain to lead to some exciting things forNintendo Switchfans for the rest of 2020, both in Nintendo Dream and elsewhere.
