Rumors have been swirling for weeks that the nextNintendo Directpresentation would be taking place this month, and it seems those rumors were right on the money.Nintendohas officially announced the date and time of the September 2021 Nintendo Direct presentation, which will consist of about 40 minutes of information focused on Nintendo Switch games that are set to release this coming winter.
Thenext Nintendo Direct eventwill take place on Thursday, September 23 at 3pm PT. Nintendo did not provide any specifics beyond that, but the fact that it’s 40 minutes long bodes well for it being a rather significant Direct. And with Nintendo noting that the Nintendo Direct will focus on games launching this winter, there are some pretty educated guesses that can be made about what titles will be at the show.

The most obvious choice to be at the Nintendo Direct on September 23 isPokemon Legends: Arceus, as it’s the only upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive game announced so far that has a confirmed winter release date. There are a variety of other upcoming Switch games that are expected to launch in early 2022 as well though, likeSplatoon 3, for instance, so perhaps fans will get a look at both of those games during the Nintendo Direct.
There are other games still coming out this year that Nintendo may want to shine the spotlight on as well, even though they’re not coming out in the winter time. This would includetitles likeShin Megami Tensei 5andPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearl, which are all set to launch in November. Nintendo also has a couple of games set to launch in December as well in the form ofAdvance Wars 1 + 2: Re-Boot CampandBig Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain.
Leaker SamusHunter predicted the Nintendo Direct would take place this week, so its confirmation lends their other claims some more credibility. Something else they suggested could be happening this month is the reveal of thelong-rumoredResident Evil: Outragegame, which is believed to be a timed-Switch exclusive. Whether or not that announcement happens at the Nintendo Direct remains to be seen.
With Nintendo itself not teasing any of the games that will be shown at the Nintendo Direct, all fans can do is speculate about what will be there until they tune in on September 23 and see for themselves.
