This latest PS5 firmware update should be well-received by the community, assuming there are no unforeseen issues. There have beenproblematic PlayStation console updatesin the past that Sony has had to roll back, but so far nothing of the like has been reported with this latest one. In the meantime, Sony has also announced plans to update the PS App, though that update won’t be hitting mobile devices until an undetermined point later this month.

While thePS Appupdate isn’t coming until later on, Sony has revealed what fans can expect from it. Once that update goes live, PlayStation gamers will be able to use the PS App to launch remote play sessions, as long as their PS5 is in rest mode. PS App users will also be able to request party members to share their screens directly from their mobile devices once they’ve downloaded the new update. More information on when exactly this PS App update will be available should be revealed in the days and weeks ahead.

These new PS App and PS5 firmware updates will likely be well-received by PlayStation gamers, but there are still ways that the console could be improved. For example, some PlayStation gamers have called on Sony to incorporate background themes for the PS5 like is available for PS4, though that has yet to take place. Others would like to see the PS5 lift some ideas from its competition, like theXbox Series X’s Smart Deliveryand Quick Resume features, but it’s unclear if that will ever happen.

It’s unclear if Sony will ever implement all thefan-requested PS5 features, but fans can at least count on new updates to continue releasing for the console on a regular basis.
