It’s been a while since the last game in thisUbisoftfranchise came out.Far Cry 5was released in 2018 which was followed up by some DLC and a stand-alone expansion.Far Cry 6is the first main entry in three years though. The big question then is was the wait for it?

Parachuting in Far Cry 6

Reviews are all over the place with most aggregates hovering around the 70s on the major platforms. It’s mindless fun but not a lot new was brought to the table. That seems to be one of the running themes in these breakdowns. The bugs and glitches also seem to be dragging it down. Those should be fixed as soon as possible but there are some mechanics Ubisoft should tweak as well in order to makeFar Cry 6potentially better with itsmany hours of content.

7Add Manual Saves

This game does notsupport manual savesright now. The game autosaves and there is only one file. That means there is no way for players to backtrack to an old save in case they get themselves into a sticky situation.

Sometimes it’s because the game is just too hard for where the player is and sometimes it might be because of a glitch. No matter the reason manual saves can be a godsend for any gamer.Far Cry 6not having this option is problematic. Hopefully, this feature can be patched in sooner rather than later.

6Add Local Co-Op

The co-op feature has generally been one of the highlights of the gamesin this series. That remains true forFar Cry 6but there is a bit of an issue not related to the sometimes buggy online connections. There is no way to play local split-screen co-op.

For some gamers, this missing option won’t be an issue. In a time where there is a pandemic going on, playing online with friends or strangers is still the safest mode of multiplayer. It’s not a big letdown for the game but assuredly some fans out there would enjoy local co-op.

5Add A Quick Photo Mode Button

Far Cry 6has a decent variety of accessibility options for disabled gamers which is great to see in any game. There is a mode where the menus will be narrated for the hearing impaired and there are tons of color options for those with sight issues. There is a wealth of content for gamers to mess with in the menu.

One feature that is missing is a better control setup. Players can customize controls to an extent but there is no option to set up photo mode quickly. Players instead have to go into the menu, select the option, and then play around with photo mode. The mode itself is good but it would be nice if there was a way to just hit a button and jump right into it.

4Animals Shouldn’t Cause Alarms

As is the case for many of the past games in the series,Far Cry 6givesplayers animal companions. The first one they will get is Guapo who is a giant crocodile. Companions in the game can even be petted which is always a cute feature to see in a game.

There’s something that doesn’t make sense about using animals in combat though. Players could be on a cliff overlooking a fort or hidden somewhere nearby but the alarm will always trigger if a companion attacks someone. Animals should not alarm enemies to the player’s location. That should be fixed.

3Add Third-Person Driving

Driving has never been particularly solid in any game in the series. One of the reasons why is because most feature first-person viewpoints only. That’s the case withFar Cry 6.

There are hub areas in the game where the camera converts to third-person perspectives on foot so the option is seemingly there in the code. It would be great if Ubisoft could apply that filter to driving vehicles as well. That should help make driving easier. For now, stick with horses.

2Riding More Animals

Horses are a vital part ofFar Cry 6. In the absence of third/person driving, they are a godsend. It would be great if there were more options in the game that turned animals into transportation options.

For example, Guapo is apretty big crocodile. He moves fast on land and even faster in the water. Why can’t players grab onto to him and ride him around in the water like a dolphin? It would be so cool. That might be hard to program into the game at this point but it never hurts to wish.

1Fill Ammo When Switching Out Guns

This is a small complaint but it should still be noted. When players switch weapons, it would be amazing if ammo automatically refilled itself. For example,if a pistolis down to zero bullets and players switch to a rifle, switching back should refill ammo.

This sounds like an exploit that could perhaps unbalance the game. That’s why Ubisoft could just make it an option in the menu. It could be a feature to make the game more accessible like many titles have tried in 2021. ToFar Cry 6’scredit on that front, the Story Mode difficulty in the game should cater to the more casual crowd. The game then isn’t completely devoid of casual options but it could do more.
