Summary

TheDr. Stoneanime and manga series portraysIshigami Senku, a young scientist who strives to de-petrify the whole world after it’s petrified and reverted to the Stone Age. Rather than losing heart at the reversion of humanand scientific development, Senku takes it as a challenge to return the world to modern civilization while saving all of humanity.

With his capable brain,Senku’s smartsprove capable of finding solutions to most problems. However, despite his incredible ingenuity, it seems even Senku is not all capable and has some inherent weaknesses that could jeopardize his ambitions and his relationships with his friends.

Senku

5Lack Of Social Skills

Both characters in theDr. Stoneanime series and fans alike know that Senku is not the most social of people. His lack of social skills is often characterized by his “matter-of-fact” style of speech, his extreme straightforwardness, and his difficulty reading social cues. While being extremely straightforward could be beneficial, it often leads to rare moments when Senku could be considered insensitive. However, this also helps his fellow members of the Kingdom of Science to gear up and accept the facts.

Senku’s lack of social skills makes it hard for him to pick up on subtle cues arising from the tone of voice or body language that his friends and enemies may portray. And while his social awkwardness is not necessarily bad, it makes him less able to understand the hearts of others and what they truly feel.

Senku

4Physically Weak

While Senku is the smartest individual in theDr. Stoneanime series and possiblyone of the smartest anime characters of all time, his physical abilities are less than average. Living in a stone world where strength is respected and lacking the necessary physical strength to carry out various tasks has proved to be one of Senku’s greatest weaknesses.

After Senku was initially de-petrified, to ensure his survival, he had to de-petrify Taiju, his best friend, and the strongest primate high schooler, Tsukasa, as he lacked the necessary strength to carry out strength-related tasks. This inherent weakness of his often makes him dependent on others. In a stone world where a friend could become an enemy at any time, being extremely dependent on others could have devastating outcomes. While Senku has made up for his lack of brawn with his brains, he also shows that brains cannot outright replace brawn.

3Lack Of Combat Skills

As shown intheDr. Stoneanimeand manga series, Senku is incapable of performing any form of martial art. Running through trees and battling individuals or dangerous animals with bare hands or weapons was a top-priority skill in the Stone Age, where the law of the jungle persisted. Unfortunately, Senku is not among those who can protect themselves with combat skills. In dangerous situations where fighting an enemy is required, Senku often leaves the battle to the capable ones.

With trusted and capable combatants such as Kohaku at his side, Senku often worms his way out of such battle situations. However, depending on others has put him at risk a few times, as seen when herevived Hyoga to battle against Mozduring the Treasure Island arc. Reviving Hyoga was a dangerous move that even Senku gambled on. After all, if Hyoga decided to side with Moz after the latter’s attempts to draw him to his side, Senku and the Kingdom of Science would have been doomed.

2Overly Logical

Ishigami Senku is an overly logical individual who prioritizes logic and advancements in science over emotional concerns. With his logic, Senku strives to rebuild human civilization from the Stone Age that it has degenerated into. After getting de-petrified, he begins to de-petrify his friends according to how useful they would be in advancing the science of the Stone Age.

While his logic has served as a unique skill that has saved him many times, it could also be one of his greatest weaknesses in terms of understanding human emotions. As someone who relies heavily on logic, understanding and sharing the emotions of others could, at times, prove difficult for Senku. In terms of picking up on non-verbal cues or subtle emotional expressions such as feelings of affection, Senku is not the best for the job. Despite this aspect of human interaction that Senku is not the best at, his friends manage to cover up for him because they know the kind of person they’re dealing with.

1Vulnerable To Make Emotionally Charged Decisions

Despite over-reliance on logic being one of the central aspects of Senku’s character, he has moments when his decisions rely more on emotions than the logic he holds so dear. These moments often lead to him making suboptimal decisions that could jeopardize the advancement of science. Despite this being a weakness of Senku, it is also one of the things that makes him human, showing that he also has emotions and cares about his friends.

One of the most prominent moments in which Senku made an emotionally charged decision is when, after de-petrifying Taiju, he proceeded to de-petrify Yuzuriha, even though he felt there were more suitable people to de-petrify at that point with the limited resources he had at hand. This is also shown when Senku jeopardizes the Kingdom of Science and its advancements to keep Tsukasa from killing his friends and breaking more petrified statues. While these emotionally charged decisions could often jeopardize scientific advancements, they also show that Ishigami Senku is only human.
