Naruto Uzumaki is one of the most beloved characters in the world of anime and manga. Being the protagonist of the iconicNarutoseries that gripped the hearts of people both young and old decades ago, Naruto is still incredibly popular to this day. InBoruto: Naruto Next Generations, which is the sequel toNaruto, he still holds a strong grip over the hearts of the fans. So much so, that Naruto has been at the center of quite a lot of action inBorutofor a very long time.

Sadly, much to the surprise of the fans,Naruto has been severely nerfed inBorutolately and has been used just as a pawn to raise the stakes and pave the way for the next generation to get even stronger. That said, there is room for Naruto to return eventually and, when that happens, he could return stronger than ever before.
The Fate Of Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto Uzumaki faced a very cruel fateinBoruto. When Boruto began, Naruto was at the peak of his powers. Even though he was not an active Shinobi, he was still quite powerful, as was seen when he took on the likes of Momoshiki in combat. In fact, both Naruto and Sasuke were capable of taking on Momoshiki individually as well and, even though both of them were severely fatigued and at nearly half their strength, they still put up an admirable fight and overpowered the Otsutsuki being. Naruto Uzumaki only continued to grow from there onwards, however, so did the threats in the world ofBoruto.
When Jigen showed up, both Naruto and Sasuke received a terrible beating, however, when an even stronger enemy in Isshiki was rebirthed, Naruto replied by taking his powers a step above as well and unlocking the Baryon Mode. Little did he know that the Baryon Mode would cost him his dearest friend, Kurama. Naruto gained tremendous amounts of power after unlocking the Baryon Mode and overpowered even Isshiki Otsutsuki. In fact, he was the primary reason why Isshiki was even defeated in the first place. Sadly, at the end of it all, Naruto got nerfed to a level where he is now a liability in combat against the Otsutsuki clan. This is certainly not a good showing for him, given that he is the 7th Hokage and a very beloved character among the fans.
What’s even worse is the fact that Naruto faced an even worst fate afterwards. While Naruto believed that he could still be relevant in combat, a reality check soon hit him when Code invaded Konoha and Naruto stood absolutely no chance. In fact, Kawaki was certain that Naruto would get himself killed if he had no protection. Despite having his incredible Sage Mode, which was now improved upon after years of experience, Naruto was still absolutely no match for the upper echelons of the Boruto world. As such, he became a very unreliable character in combat.
Kawaki, Naruto’s foster son, realized this and decided to reawaken his Karma to protect him forever, given that Naruto granted him a new life. Kawaki even killed Boruto, who posed a threat to Naruto at that point, due to the possession by Momoshiki. Eventually, he resolvedto kill every single Otsutsukibeing if that is what it took to save Naruto. Knowing that Naruto would stop him from killing Boruto, who was possessed by Momoshiki, he decided to seal both him and his wife away in the separate dimension of Daikokuten, where time doesn’t flow at all. Boruto then went on to enter timeskip shortly after and the series is currently on hiatus, all set to return in the upcoming months.
Naruto’s Eventual Return
While Boruto made it quite clear that Naruto was out of his depth after losing Kurama, that certainly is not going to mean that he will remain irrelevant for the remainder of the story. For now, Naruto Uzumaki is sealed away and he will stay there for quite a while. This is evident from the fact that when Kawaki returns and fights Boruto atop the faces in a destroyed Konoha, he claims thatNaruto is still sealed away.This means that Naruto remains in a separate pocket dimension for around 4 years and while that certainly is a harrowing thought for his fans, it doesn’t mean that he’s not going to be relevant anytime soon.

Boruto is entering a timeskip era, meaning when the story does return, four years will likely have passed already. This means that the return of Naruto Uzumaki would also be edging closer at the same time. Once Boruto and Kawaki settled their differences, Naruto is going to be back. It is also possible that Sasuke Uchiha, his closest friend, will find a way to rescue him, although the chances of that happening are very low given that he does not have access to his Rinnegan anymore. Nonetheless, Naruto is certainly going to return one way or another and when he does return, fans are likely going to see him exhibit powers that make him relevant in the story once again.
The Next Transformation Of Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto is certainly going to receive a power-up in the future inBoruto. Or, at the very least, he is going to get a new transformation. Fans have been wondering for quite a while watching this new power could be and there are actually quite a few ways for him to acquire new abilities. One of the easiest ways for him to acquire more power would be to train his other existing skills. Naruto can easily learn nature transformations that were not available to him long ago. By mastering them, he can take his skills to the next level, however, there is a ceiling that he cannot surpass this way.
However, there are other ways for Naruto to get even stronger and that is by training in the dimension of Daikokuten. If, in this dimension, time doesn’t flow, that essentially means that Naruto has infinite time to train and get stronger. Of course, Naruto was seen passed out inside the dimension, however, if that will always remain the case remains to be seen. Furthermore, when Naruto returns, he could easily become another Jinchuriki, as there is a version of the 10 Tails in the world that would need to be sealed away somehow. If Narutodoes become its Jinchuriki, he would gain tremendous powers.
Furthermore, Naruto can even reunite with Kurama, who recently died. While fans would think of that to be impossible, it must be remembered that Ada still possesses the powers of Omnipotence and, if she masters how to use it, she can essentially change reality itself and bring Kurama back to life. If that does happen, Naruto can reunite with his best friend and return to his former power levels, gaining new transformations along the way. For now, fans will have to patiently wait for Naruto to return before he can display any new abilities.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generationsis on a break and is all set to return on August 03, 2025.
