As much asDestiny 2is about shooting, the game is also notably concerned with looting. With the addition of the Witch Queen expansion,Destiny 2players have been given access to a whole host of new weapons and armor pieces to equip their Guardian with. No piece ofDestiny 2gear is regarded as highly as an Exotic piece, whether that be an incredible weapon or piece of armor. Usually,Exotic items inDestiny 2come from either a player completing specific questsor raids.

SomeDestiny 2players did find an easier way to getExotic items in theDestiny 2Witch Queen expansionthrough farming Lost Sectors. With it being a couple of months since the release of the Witch Queen as well, manyDestiny 2players now have the rare items that they want either through farming tricks or the usual methods. However, according to a new “This Week at Bungie” blog post, fans may be getting a new Exotic piece of gear soon.

Destiny 2players on Reddit believe that an Exotic armor piece relating to Fusion Rifles will be coming soon due to a note in Bungie’s recent blog post. Among the lengthy update, fans picked out a piece of information hidden in the discussion around the new Airborne effectiveness weapon stat. Airborne effectiveness is intended to change the way primary guns work while a player is in the air, giving players less aim assist, so they have to rely on more of their own skill when taking down enemies while gliding. The post then went on to explain how Exotic armor affects Airborne effectiveness too, and an unnamed piece of armor was said to give +30 to Fusion Rifles and Linear Fusion Rifles while airborne.

Destiny 2fans have taken this to mean that a new piece of Exotic armor will likely be coming soon and that it will boost the stats of Fusion Rifles. Fusion Rifles areDestiny 2’sway of throwing out traditional bullets and allowing fans to kill their enemies with pure energy. After a short wind-up time, they fire a burst of projectiles at foes. While there are plenty ofFusion Rifles inDestiny 2, they don’t see much play in PvE or PvP.

Hopefully, this new Exotic armor piece could change that. While nothing has been officially confirmed as yet, Bungie does love to teaseDestinyfans in their blog posts, often alluding to future content and rewarding those who really dig deep into the text of the update. In the past, “This Week at Bungie” posts have given out details on content for upcoming expansions and shown off gameplay changes like theElemental updates toDestiny 2.

Destiny 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
