The lore ofCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies has a long history dating back to the first appearance back inCall of Duty: World at War.While the concept, design, and action has evolved over the years, players are still able to see new changes asCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waropens a new chapter in the Aether timeline. Rather than simply adding a huge patch with the lore, Treyarch is slowly teasing images of an upcoming map and adding mystery to the Zombies equation.
This is not the firstCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombie teaserimage to appear. As Treyarch nears closer to “day 115,” the developer is slowly releasing more information in bite-sized chunks. The newestCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombie teaserfeatures a bedroom at a site known as “Outpost 25.” It makes reference to a man named Doctor Pecks, stating that the room in question is their personal quarters. Doctor Pecks is an Omega scientist who is in charge of Outpost 25’s research and function. Although it still remains unknown what exactly is happening at Outpost 25, players are sure that its research team is up to no good due to the impact of Die Maschine’s outbreak. The image breaks down to a standard bedroom filled with what appear to be historical urns. It has a “farmhouse” feel, placing it roughly in the 1960s build based on the floor and height of the doorframe.

Alongside the Twitter leak comes an image posted to Treyarch’s Instagram. The room is a 1950s-era radio room with cables spread across the floor. Whoever inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies loreis providing these images has referenced contacting someone, which may be a hint at a future Easter egg, or possibly the solution to a future problem.
The last image found by the community has been sourced to the developer’s Facebook page. One disturbing fact found in these images is the idea that the Dark Aether incident is not isolated. InCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War,many considered the Die Maschine sitea one-off location, but now it seems that Dark Aether energy is manifesting at an increased rate. The room is a standard meeting place with a projector showcasing another Dark Aether portal.
Each of the teasers thus far has been signed to someone labeled “M” and written by a mysterious “R.” While it unknown exactly who these people are, they no doubt tie into the deepCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies loreand may even reference known characters from the Aether timeline.
