Activision’sCall of Dutyfranchise is arguably more popular than it has ever been, between its mainline titleModern Warfarebeing the series' best-selling gameand its new battle royaleWarzonedrawing record-high player counts. The mobile phone spin-offCall of Duty: Mobileis also a popular facet of this current renaissance, and its developers have been announcing lots of new content as a result — including a free weapon players can expect to receive next month.

In a community update posted to the r/CallOfDutyMobile subreddit by Activision Thursday, the company addresses a leaked “apparent marketing image” suggesting the HBRa3 assault rifle would be available as a free in-game option by letting players know that it is going to be released in June for the global version ofCall of Duty: Mobile. This new free weapon will join other “free and earnable” variant of the Locus, Pharo, Cordite, and Outlaw made available throughout May, and Activision says it hopes to release even more “in the next seasonal release.”

The current season of content in the mobile title, called “Once Upon a Time in Rust” in reference to the newly added fan-favorite map, will be ongoing through at least the end of the month according to aSeason 6 Road Mapreleased last week, and includes various new modes, seasonal challenges, and the ongoingCall of Duty: MobileWorld Championship qualifier matches.

Another way Activision has been encouraging fans of the first-person shooter franchise to pick up the mobile title alongside major releases likeModern WarfareandWarzoneis by implementing crossover cosmetic items. By linking up their accounts for those games andCall of Duty: Mobile, players are able toreceive a free watchthat is described as “featherweight, reliable, and obnoxiously hard to lose.”

This special-edition watch is just one piece of content that Activision and Infinity Ward have made available in the majorCall of Dutytitles, which are also seeing updates alongside the mobile game. Recently anew multiplayer Operator named Iskrawas added for use in bothModern WarfareandWarzone.

At the same time, the developer has been working on fixing cheating in its popular titles.Call of Duty: Warzoneadded two-step authenticationfor example, and with these kinds of issues as well as bugs being addressed across all platforms there should be plenty of room for players to experiment with new weapons.
