Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s release is right around the corner, and so Activision has offered details on when fans can expect to pre-load the game and exactly when they will be able to play the campaign if they have early access. Anyone that pre-orders the digital version ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2can play the campaign early, and now we know the exact time that campaign early access begins.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2fans that have pre-ordered the game can pre-load the campaign early access starting October 19 at 10am PT across all platforms. They will gain access to theModern Warfare 2campaign early accessstarting October 20 at 10am PT, at which point they should be able to play through the entirety of theMW2story campaign. As far as the full game goes, pre-loading will be a bit different depending on platform.

On Xbox, pre-loading theModern Warfare 2full game starts October 19 at 10am PT. On PlayStation, it starts October 19 at 4am PT, with regional rollouts. And finally, those on PC will be able to pre-load the fullModern Warfare 2game on October 26 at 10am PT.
Besides confirming theModern Warfare 2pre-load dates and times, Activision also gave fans a glimpse at what they can expect from post-launch content. The game’s “pre-season” will take place from October 28 to November 15, while Season 1 will kick off with the launch of theCall of Duty: Warzone 2.0battle royale andDMZ game modeon November 16. It’s unclear how long Season 1 will last, but fans can count on it lasting until the new year at least.
That’s because it’s been confirmed that December 16 will see the launch of Season 1 Reloaded, the mid-season refresh that Activision does with itsCall of Dutygames to add more content between seasons. Full details on what to expect from that update will have to wait until later, but Activision did confirm that the Season 1 Reloaded update will addraids toModern Warfare 2.
There’s clearly a lot of content planned forModern Warfare 2in the months after the game’s launch, but fans should have plenty to sink their teeth into on launch day as well. Besides the campaign, the fullModern Warfare 2multiplayer experience will be available on October 28, along with the return of the fan favoriteSpec Ops co-op mode. Whether all this content meets expectations or not remains to be seen, but fans will find out for themselves when campaign early access starts on October 20 and the full game unlocks at the end of the month.
