Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3has possibly teased the inclusion of one of the series' most popular long-absent assault rifles in a social media post. Launching this Fall,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3is releasing just one year after 2022’sModern Warfare 2,and will introduce a campaign featuring open combat missions, an open-world Zombies mode, and much more.
One aspect of this third entry in theModern Warfarereboot trilogy that has many fans buzzing is thatall 16Modern Warfare 2(2009) multiplayer maps are returning, remade inModern Warfare 3. As the original 2009 masterpiece is regarded by manyCall of Dutyfans as one of the best titles in the franchise, this is something fans have been requesting for a long time, especially with the 2022 reboot. Another interesting feature laid out byCall of Dutyduring the recent full reveal ofModern Warfare 3is the new Tac-stance system. The firing mode, which can be toggled by players freely while aiming down sights, tilts the weapon on an angle, giving players more maneuverability at the cost of some accuracy.

While fans of the originalModern Warfare 2are having their wish granted in the return of all 16 maps, some have also been wishing for the return of a particular weapon that was prominent in the original game.Dexerto called attention to a tweet byModern Warfare 3’s lead development studio Sledgehammer Games from the full game reveal blowout. The post, the beginning of a thread recapping all the new customization andmovement featuresModern Warfare 3will have on offer, uses an image of what appears to be a tan ACR canted in what’s assumed to be the new Tac-stance.
Call of Duty’s ACR is widely considered by many to be the best weapon in the originalModern Warfare 2, but it hasn’t been featured in a mainlineCall of Dutytitle since. The weapon was reportedly set to make its return in2016’s divisive sci-fi outingInfinite Warfare, however, it unfortunately never made it to the final lineup. Since last year’sModern Warfare 2bundles, operators, and, most importantly, weapons have been confirmed to be carrying over intoModern Warfare 3, some fans have been unsure about whether the title would bring its own weapons to the table. With this concern rectified and the ACR’s possible return teased, fan sentiment surroundingModern Warfare 3seems to be improving.
While this ACR tease may seem exciting, it has yet to be officially confirmed to be called the “ACR.” Additionally, if true, the weapon may not be as good as its 2009 iteration. However, with Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer’s industry-leading gunplay, there’s a good chance it could feel even better to fire over a decade later. AsModern Warfare 3’s November release date nears, it’ll be interesting to see which other iconicModern Warfareweapons could make the lineup.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3is coming on November 10 to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
