The Tomorrow Childrenwas a rather obscure free-to-play PS4 exclusive title that released in October 2016 and ended up closing shop just over a year later in November 2017. This was due to a multitude of reasons with very poor critical reception and a lack of players being the main culprits. Surprisingly, developer Q-Games was able to secureThe Tomorrow Children’s intellectual property rights from Sony meaning that a revival of the game is on the cards.

Q-Games is also known for making another obscure game series known asPixelJunk. The reason for the series obscurity is the fact that each installment differs greatly from the last. The first game in the series is known asPixelJunk Racerswhich is categorized as a “puzzle racing video game”. The player switches between five lanes and only has control over the horn, throttle, and the ability to switch lanes. The next installmentPixelJunk Monsterstakes an entirely different approach and is categorized as a tower defense game.

The Tomorrow Childrenfollows Q-Games odd formula as it consisted of resource gathering, city-building, and some light combat and platforming elements that were not properly fleshed out.The Tomorrow Children’s identity crisis is most likely what led to its failureas it seems as though the developers did not have enough time to create the vision that they had for the title. Fans of the series will be happy to know that now that Q-Games has gotten its hands back onThe Tomorrow Children, it will be able to tweak it until it can get the game to where it wants it to be.

Founder of Q-Games Dylan Cuthbert was overjoyed with the company’s acquisition and made an official statement thankingSonyfor returning the intellectual property to Q-Games. Cuthbert also issued a thank you to fans in the statement and later tweeted a special thank you to the “100s of thousands of Arabian players who stormedThe Tomorrow Childrennightly back in the day.” The title has yet to be given a release date with Q-Games merely saying that it will release some time in the future.

One of the strangest mechanics ofThe Tomorrow Childrenalso appeared in theDark Soulsseries is the fact that the game shows you brief transparent glimpses of other characters but does not actually let players interact with them. This makes sense inDark Soulsas players can interact with other players in many other ways, however, weirdly enough this is the only form of multiplayer inThe Tomorrow Children.
