For the past couple of years, Capcom has been busy re-introducing some of its classicResident Evilgames to a new generation of players. Last year, the company releasedResident Evil 2remake, and earlier this year, the reimagining ofResident Evil 3. Currently, the studio is taking a break from remakes and is preoccupied at the momentwith the development ofResident Evil 8, which is the upcoming new entry in the long-standing survival horror franchise.
However, players are now wondering what’s next forResident Evilafter the release ofResident Evil 8. At the moment, rumors strongly suggest that Capcom will be developing a remake ofResident Evil 4.Although the studio still hasn’t confirmed this,a remake ofResident Evil 4is likely to happengiven that it is one of the most popular games in the franchise. But, if Capcom does decide to reimagineResident Evil 4,which game should it remake next?

Resident Evil Code Veronica
One of the most highly-request remakes within theResident Evilfranchise is the 2000 survival horror game,Resident Evil Code Veronica. Interestingly enough, immediately after the release of Resident Evil 3 remake, many thought thatCode Veronicawill be the next gameto receive the remake treatment. The reason for this is because, inResident Evil’stimeline,Code Veronica’sevents take place immediately after the destruction of Raccoon City, which was chronicled inResident Evil 3. As previously mentioned, Capcom’s plans for its next remake remains unclear, but as it stands, it appears that the studio will be skippingCode Veronicain favor ofResident Evil 4.
To the uninitiated,Resident Evil Code Veronicafollows the story of Claire Redfield who is in pursuit of her lost brother Chris, after discovering in Raccoon City that he went to Umbrella’s headquarters in Europe. After infiltrating the facility, Claire was apprehended by Umbrella and was thrown in a prison located in Rockfort Island, that was recently infected by the t-Virus. At the moment, it is still unclear whether aCode Veronicaremake will ever see the light of day. However, if there is aResident Evilgame that deserves to be re-released again, many would agree that it’sCode Veronica.

Dino Crisis
Another franchise that deserves the remake treatment isDino Crisis. To those unfamiliar,Dino Crisisis a survival-horror franchisethat was born out of the success ofResident Evil. However, after the release of the third game in the franchise, fans quickly lost interest inDino Crisis, and the series has remained dormant for nearly seventeen years now.
As far as the possibility of aDino Crisisremake, it is worth noting that Capcom said several years ago that if fans would want it, then they would have no problem remaking the franchise. Several months ago, reports surfaced that Capcom Vancouver pitched a newDino Crisisgame to its Japanese counterpart. Unfortunately,Capcom Japan denied the pitchand it appears that anythingDino Crisisrelated won’t see the light of day in the foreseeable future.

Onimusha 3: Demon Siege
Onimushais an action-adventure hack and slash franchise that made its debut back in 2001. Although the series isnot as popular asResident Evil,Onimushastill has a solid fanbase and is names as Capcom’s eighth best-selling franchise. Of course,Onimushafans would probably agree that among the many games under the franchise,Onimusha 3: Demon Siegeis the one that deserves to be remade.
To the uninitiatedOnimusha 3was released back in 2004 and many believe that it solved all of the problems players had in previous installments in the franchise. The game featured full 3D environments that helped make combat more immersive than ever before. At the moment, it is currently unclear whetherOnimusha 3has a high chance of being remade. However, it is worth noting that the lastOnimushagame that was released isan HD remaster ofOnimusha: Warlords, which is the first entry in the franchise. Given this, it wouldn’t be unlikely for Capcom to develop a full-fledged remake ofOnimusha 3. However, it is apparent that if Capcom would ever go the remake route again, it is more than likely that it will be anotherResident Evilgame.
