Capcom hasn’t released a newDino Crisisgame since the poorly-receivedDino Crisis 3in 2003, but fans have been holding out hope for a revival. Capcom still hasn’t announced anything official about bringingDino Crisisback, but it has recently renewed the trademark for the franchise, giving fans hope that they may see the dinosaur survival-horror franchise eventually come back from the dead.

Rumors have persisted for years thatCapcom is making a newDino Crisisgame, only for nothing to materialize. However, Capcom has openly admitted in recent years that it plans on leveraging its library of games to produce remakes, remasters, and more. Based on this, aDino Crisisremake seems like a no-brainer, especially when the company has exhausted the list ofResident Evilgames it can remake.

If Capcom does decide to move forward with aDino Crisisremakeor a new game in the series, it seems like it would be a long way off from release. After all, theResident Evil 3remake is set to launch this coming April, and there are brand new video game consoles on the horizon. Based on the timing, it seems like Capcom would be better off releasing the newDino Crisison next-generation platforms instead of current-gen consoles.

Another possibility would be for Capcom to remaster the PS1-eraDino Crisisgames instead of developing full-fledged remakes. This would be a relatively low-cost way for Capcom to test the waters and see if there is a market for a newDino Crisisgame before it dedicates any resources to such a project.

Dino Crisismay not be the onlyclassic Capcom franchise to get a revival, however. The company also filed trademarks forPower Stone,Rockman, andDarkstalkers. But before fans get too excited about the possibility of Capcom bringing any of these franchises back, it’s worth noting that trademark renewal doesn’t mean that the company actually plans on using the trademarks any time soon.

Capcom’s desire to re-release its games makes a possibleDino Crisisrevival more likely, but fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Take anynews aboutDino Crisiswith a grain of salt until Capcom itself makes an announcement.
