ACall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2player uses the game’s Gunsmith weapon modification system to make something resemblingHalo’s Battle Rifle. While not an exact replica, the likeness is unmistakable.

The recent release ofModern Warfare 2Season 5saw the introduction of the new Carrack .300. A semi-automatic bullpup sniper rifle, the gun’s profile already gives it a passing similarity to something from theHalouniverse. Reddit user andWarzoneplayer Quzga noticed this and took advantage of the game’s Gunsmith system, fitting it with an extended magazine, replacing the wooden stock and foregrip with more modern black furniture, and adding blue highlights. Quzga even added a “bootleg Cortana” using one ofModern Warfare 2’s Gun Screens.
WhileHalo’s Battle Rifle has gone through multiple redesigns since it was first introduced inHalo 2, Quzga’s rifle doesn’t resemble any of them that closely. The Carrack .300 is also semi-automatic, while theHaloBattle Rifle fires in bursts. A better comparison might be the DMR fromHalo: Reach, and itsBandit variant introduced inHalo: Infinite. Regardless, Quzga still gets the look right overall, and it’s not too much of a stretch to see the connection.
Interestingly, some of theHaloBattle Rifle’s real-world inspirations have been inCall of Dutyfor some time. Bungie based the design on multiple guns. These include the XM8, which was featured inCall of Duty: Black Ops 2, and the FAMAS. The latter was in multiple games dating back to the originalCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2from 2009 and later appeared inCall of Duty: Black Opsandthe 2019Modern Warfarereboot.
The Season 5 Update also adds a version of the FAMAS called the FR Avenger toCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2andWarzone. This means thatModern Warfare 2players have an alternative option if they want to follow in Quzga’s footsteps by recreatingone of theHalofranchise’s most iconic weapons.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
