Since its initial problematic release,Cyberpunk 2077has been updated to fix many of its glaring issues, and many CD Projekt RED fans have returned to the game that initially turned them away. OneCyberpunk 2077fan has decided to imagine what the game would look like as a side-scroller in incredible fan art that has garnered the attention of theCyberpunkcommunity.
Twitter user RealShortGuy13 recently shared an image of their interpretation of whatCyberpunk 2077would be like if it were a pixel art side-scrolling title. RealShortGuy13 is known for doing pixel art projects that includeElden Ring,Battlefield 2042, andHadesfan art, among unique creations that highlight their ability to create from scratch as well. Just like with the fan art surrounding the aforementioned games, the side-scrollerCyberpunk 2077piece shines a different light on the CD Projekt RED title.

RealShortGuy13’sCyberpunk 2077fan art shows the protagonist V in a dialogue withJackie Welles, one of the memorable side characters from the futuristic RPG. The Male V and Jackie portraits are shown on either side of their chat bubble, which is seemingly how this side-scrollingCyberpunk 2077will notify players which character they’re talking to, as the area in the screenshot is full of NPCs. The faceless sprites representing the citizens of Night City take various shapes and sizes, like inCyberpunk 2077, but only Jackie features dialogue options in the fan art when countlessCyberpunk 2077characters have voice lines.
Night City’s sense of scale remains intact in RealShortGuy13’sCyberpunk 2077fan art as buildings in the background tower above the character sprites and out of view. This pixel fan art showsCyberpunk 2077from a different angle from street view, but RealShortGuy13 has created another piece that focuses on Johnny Silverhand and Rogue shooting at Corpos, who are storming them several floors above. While RealShortGuy13’s initialCyberpunk 2077side-scroller fan art shows the unthreatening civilians of Night City, the one featuringJohnny Silverhandshows how enemies are depicted in action shots, complete with health bars.
Since RealShortGuy13 posted theirCyberpunk 2077pixel art to Twitter, hundreds of fans have expressed their enthusiasm for some sort ofCyberpunk 2077side-scroller. Because RPG systems and shooting combat remain in RealShortGuy13’s version of the game, it would likely maintain many themes with this minimalist setting. While many fans of RealShortGuy13’s fan art want to play the teasedCyberpunk 2077side-scroller, some others highlighted the similarities between the pixel art and the classicStreets of Rageseries.
