7Has Ties To Mr. Blue Eyes

A Mysterious Figure Within Night City

Theelusive Mr. Blue Eyesis nothing but speculation and rumor among the community, but his influence is found all over Night City and beyond. V can encounter Mr. Blue Eyes a few times, but this blue-eyed gentleman will always watch, reminiscent of G-Man fromHalf-Life. If V asks Songbird who helped her get this ticket to leave orbit, she will make mention of a wealthy man with blue eyes.

The fact that Mr. Blue Eyes is so prominent with figures like Songbird and the potential mayor of Night City, Jefferson Peralez, proves that he works for a higher power. With Songbird’s connections to the Blackwall, and her ability to harness what lies beyond it, perhaps Mr. Blue Eyes seeks a powerful new ally for the cyberwar to come.

6She Started Netrunning At 13

Most Netrunners Are Adults In Corporations

Whilst exact dates are not known, it is estimated that Songbird was only 13 when she first acquired a cyberdeck from a local ripper in her home of Brooklyn, New York. Whilst the cyberdeck was nothing special, and simply a cheap piece of worn and old equipment, it was just what Song So Mi needed to infiltrate the Net and begin a journey from which she would never be able to come back.

The fact that Songbird started netrunning at such a young age, and on her own accord, proves her determination and her skill, which only grew from there. Song So Mi was a talented netrunner, but the fact she was stirring the pot as a teenager, proves how far she could have gone if not for the Rogue AIs.

5More Machine Than Woman

The Blackwall Takes A Physical And Mental Toll

On the topic of Rogue AIs, Songbird eventually became more machine than a woman when she started to work for the FIA and President Myers. Years of breaching the Blackwall werenone too kind on Songbird, but the insistence and forcefulness of President Myers meant that she really had no choice. The Blackwall lurks with dangerous rogue AIs desperate to escape the firewall put in place by NetWatch.

When Songbird repeatedly reached the Blackwall, she was putting herself at risk of Rogue AIs latching to her mind like parasites. To counter this, she had to upgrade herself, and multiple government-funded surgeries would see her physically change. By 2077, Songbird her arms, back of her head, and most of her back are almost entirely made of chrome.

4She Was 19 When She joined The FIA

The FIA gave Her A Choice – Join, Or Die

Songbird became addicted to the thrill of netrunning as she grew older, and this resulted in unwanted attention from the FIA after she breached a Militech datafort. With multiple agents set to kill her, it was FIA agent Solomon Reed who decided it would be best to recruit Song So Mi. The girl had little choice, as either way she was giving up her life. She either joins the FIA as their lapdog or gets flatlined by Militech.

This blackmail from Solomon Reed was something that Songbird was never able to recover from, and despite the fact that they worked together for almost a decade, she was never able to fully trust Reed. Since Songbird had to be declared officially dead, So Mi lost her life that night, showing a contrast between V, as both characters were essentially killed and given a second chance, albeit one with a ticking time bomb — Songbird with the Blackwall; V with Johnny Silverhand.

3Involved In The Unification War

The Conflict Between The New United States and the Free States of North America

The Unification War lasted between 2069 and 2070, and saw the participation of the New United States and the Free States of North America, as well as Militech and Arasaka. This war really began because of the newly elected President Rosalind Myers, and as such, Songbird and Solomon Reed weresent into Night Cityto help with some espionage that would turn the tides of the war in Rosalind’s favor, placing Songbird directly in the center of the Unification War.

Songbird spent most of her time in Pacifica, in the district that would later beknown as Dogtown. One of her last missions involved taking out an admiral of the Arasaka Corporation, Murata Ozuru. However, Rosalind Myers soon called off the attack, but that did not stop Ozuru’s AV from exploding in sabotage, completing the mission, and scattering the FIA agents sent to Night City, including Songbird’s betrayal of Solomon Reed, as she sold him out to Arasaka on his way out of Night City.

2Songbird’s Fate After Phantom Liberty

Songbird Has Three Fates

It’s important to players that they figure out just what happened to Songbird inCyberpunk 2077:Phantom Liberty. Yet, her fate is kept quiet by the FIA, or those in space that were in charge of saving her life. These decisions come from thedirect result of V’s actions, and how players choose to handle the dilemma at hand.

1Songbird Knows About Johnny Silverhand

V Keeps Johnny A Secret Burden In Their Mind

Perhaps one of the most mysterious facts surrounding Songbird is how she knows that V is suffering, and hasJohnny Silverhand in their head. It’s not public knowledge by any means, but it can be assumed that Songbird hears whispers in the Blackwall, since after all, this is not the real Johnny Silverhand, but an engram, an AI designed to basically copy Johnny Silverhand to near-perfection, with perhaps, a slight tinkering from Arasaka.

Songbird is able to shut Johnny out of V’s mind, albeit briefly. She seems none too surprised that the rockerboy terrorist is roommates with V in the merc’s head, almost as if the Rogue AIs know about Johnny, and have been feeding Songbrid information to guide her down perhaps the wrong path for her sake, but the right one for theirs.
