Destiny 2has once again disabled a couple of exotic armor pieces after players discovered they were still broken. The Wormgod Caress andWinter’s Guile exotic gauntletsare at the center of the issue once again because they can retain their perks.
Not long afterDestiny 2developer Bungie reactivated the Wormgod Caress and Winter’s Guile players discovered that they were still broken. Through some quick-switching trickery, both of the exotic gauntlets could retain their damage-buffing perks long after the timer completed.

Once again, the Wormgod Caress and Winter’s Guile glitches involved using multiple shotguns and the Shotgun Ammo Finder mod. It’s unclear how exactly the glitch works but it seems to swap out the damage buff countdown for the active Ammo Finder perk without actually removing the damage buff. With the exploit, Warlocks and Titans can deliver big melee damage by combining the exotic withperks like One-Two Punch.
At this point, talking about disabling exotics inDestiny 2is becoming old hat. During Season of Dawn, there were a few issues with exotics, namely Telesto, but duringSeason of the Worthy, the problems have grown in numbers. In fact, two out of the three new exotics for the Season are disabled until Bungie can deliver a fix.
Any time that Bungie reactivates a broken exotic, players are quick to see if there is a new way to exploit the perks and lately there has been. Either because of limited staff resources or the new situation of working from home, theDestiny 2developer has struggled to actually re-enable exotics with the problem fully addressed.
At the same time,Destiny 2players are frustrated by the lack of content in Season of the Worthy and looking for ways to “break the game.” If there were more engaging activities in the game, players (specifically content creators) might not be constantly looking for different exploits.
Of course, Bungie has a lot of different considerations when it comes to Destiny 2, and a few bugged exotics are likely low on the totem pole of priorities.Trials of Osiris is struggling to keep players investedon PC because of cheaters, and the mode itself does not feel as rewarding as it did in Destiny 1.
PvE content is plenty challenging andGrandmaster Nightfall Ordealsare just around the corner, but there are few reasons to complete those activities outside of personal satisfaction. From prominent community members taking breaks from the game to clips of hackers making it to The Lighthouse,Destiny 2has a lot going on and most of it is negative. It doesn’t help that the developers can’t seem to keep the game’s selection of exotics exploit-free.
