Despite being lauded by many players and critics as a return to form for the franchise, some players ofDiablo 4are expressing their annoyance with the highly anticipated action RPG’s camera. Revamping the in-game camera system is just one of the manyDiablo 4quality-of-life improvementsbeing requested by players just days into the game’s early access period.
Set for a full release on PC and consoles on June 6,Diablo 4marks the first mainline entry in the beloved action RPG franchise since 2012’s contentiousDiablo 3. Featuring a visual style that harkens back to the series’ roots while retaining many of the quality-of-life and gameplay improvements that helpedDiablo 3draw new players into the franchise, Blizzard’sDiablo 4is already a hit with many players following the game’s open beta and Server Slam weekends. Although fans who pre-ordered on PC or console have been able to get a head start ahead of the game’s full release, someDiablo 4early access playershave had trouble signing in to Blizzard’s servers as a result of ongoing technical problems.

A new post on the r/diablo4 subreddit shows thattechnical issues withDiablo 4aren’t the only things getting in the way of some players’ enjoyment of the game. Redditor Brnchy created a post asking if others felt thatDiablo 4’s camera was too close to the player, stating that they felt the camera was “super claustrophobic” and restricted their view of enemies above and below them. Unlike in some other action RPGs players are extremely limited in regard to camera controls inDiablo 4, with the game only providing two zoom options that are both fairly close to the player.
Responses to the post were filled with Redditors expressing similar complaints aboutDiablo 4’s decidedly closed-in camera options, with some users pointing out that it has been a point of frustration since the beta. Several responses noted that they would like to see Blizzard add the option to zoom the camera out further. Other Redditors offered suggestions for a technical workaround to the issue of the overly zoomed-in camera, noting that PC players can switch to a 21:9 resolution in order to get a somewhat more manageable view of the game’s bloody battlefields.
It remains to be seen when/if this is something Blizzard ultimately addresses. For now, while the camera can be limiting when taking on the game’s hordes of demonic foes, at least it lets players get a great view when they’repetting dogs inDiablo 4.
