Developer Techland has just revealed some exciting news forDying Light 2and a first for the action-packed, zombie-apocalypse game. For the first time,Dying Light 2is set to be free on Steam for the whole weekend, starting February 22 and lasting to February 26. This move comes as a celebration ofDying Light 2’s second anniversary, the release of the Firearms Update, and the introduction of the Reloaded Edition, all of which players can check out during this promotional period.
It’s been a busy month for Techland. Earlier this month saw the launch of its Years of the Dragon event for players to check out, and it wasted no breath moving into everything tied in with the Reloaded Edition. This version replaces the Standard Edition, including all previously released content (including the Bloody Ties DLC), and the Firearms Update. Anyone who already owns the game gets all of this for free. This is the game’s biggest update yet, showing Techland’sfive-year commitment toDying Light 2isn’t just marketing talk.
Dying Light 2’s Free Steam Weekend Lets Players Try Out All the Changes
For players who haven’t yet stepped foot into the streets ofVilledor, now could be a great time to check out everything thatDying Light 2offers, but it’s also a chance for anyone who perhaps bailed early to check out all the changes. The list of changes is already incredibly long, but three areas have perhaps received the most attention since launch.
Since launch,Dying Light 2has improved the nighttime experience, the parkour experience, and the combat, among a plethora of other elements. These changes have completely overhauled internal game systems to fulfill players' wishes, and the Firearms Update is doing that all over again.
WhileDying Light 2’s Tower Raidsand Nightmare Mode are delayed to allow Techland more time to work on them, it sounds like fans won’t have to wait too much longer for either. On Twitter, Techland recently announced Nightmare Mode will launch in its next Spring update and stated a Community Playtest for Tower Raids will take place “soon.” Delays are always disappointing, but given the scope of the Firearms update (and the presumed scope of these features), it’s impossible to deny how much content Techland has creature for Dying Light 2 since launch.
