AnElden Ringinvader going about their day came across a host who had dabbled in more than their fair share of madness, turning them into the true Lord of Frenzied Flame.Elden Ringhas seen plenty of bugs since launch, and though often frustrating, some offer more than enough comedic recompense.

The Frenzied Flame is a mysterious anddevilishly compelling aspect ofElden Ring’s lore, an “Outer God” that seeks to usurp The Greater Will’s dominion over the Lands Between, replacing a strict adherence to order and supposed perfection with chaos, madness, and eternal frenzy. This manifests in-game with an obscure quest surrounding The Frenzied Flame, as is the FromSoftware tradition, alongside a humble selection of madness-infused weapons, skills, and incantations. The incantations in particular have found some implementation in PvP, due to the utility Madness can bring, although the potential of the status was significantly reduced as part of post launch support.

In a clip uploaded to Reddit, u/JKilleXx understandably panics when a Frenzied Flame incantation ignores the fundamental rules of casting. Standing in the middle of a cavern that is nearby the famous T-posingElden Ringenemy, the host of this world can be seen with jets of frenzy already protruding from their eyes, which refuse to end. The invader withdraws, then approaches again, continuing this back and forth until they are eventually ambushed, sandwiched between an endless torrent of frenzy andElden Ring’s iteration of the moonlight greatsword. Deciding defeat was inevitable, the invader bravely panic rolls away from the pursuing frenzy in an attempt to gain distance, which proves futile as three foes converge to conclude the valiant effort.

Comments likened the host to Ceaseless Discharge,a molten boss from the originalDark Souls, whose name the Soulsborne community often enjoys appropriating in humorous ways. It was also agreed that the moment was reminiscent of a famous scene fromRaiders of the Lost Ark, only that the boulder Indiana Jones runs from has now been replaced with frenzy. Unlike the film in which Harrison Ford’s character is certainly in danger, the streams of frenzy were seemingly dealing no damage, nor inflicting any build-up of the Madness status effect.

Given the direction, it is likely The Flame Of Frenzy incantation, which the description confirms is supposed to emit a “burst of yellow flame of frenzy from eyes,” but typically only lasts a couple of seconds. Comments deduced that it was a visual glitch, similar to a few witnessed since therelease ofElden Ringpatch 1.07, given that the host did not take any damage from Madness, and they should not have been able to run at that speed while casting. Patch 1.07 radically altered certain foundations of the game, separating PvP and PvE scaling, as well as implementing wide-reaching improvements to skills, sorceries, and incantations, which seems to have accidentally caused this visual error.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
