Despite the mainstream success ofElden Ring, it hasn’t had a huge amount of mods seen in other RPGs likeSkyrimandFallout 4. Despite this, time is on its side, withElden Ringonly recently turning one year old. Many of the mods available forElden Ringare brilliant, with some of the most dedicated fans getting involved in the modding scene. Another funmod forElden Ringeven adds RuneScape weapons and armorto the title, allowing players to tackle the game’s combat using equipment from Jagex’s popular MMO. With good early signs, theElden Ringmodding community is poised to breathe new life into the game for years to come.

The first-person perspective mod is titled “First Person Souls” and provides gamers with a way to play FromSoftware’s RPG from a first-person perspective. Although the mod was released on Nexus Mods, the developer of the mod, Dasaav, released a trailer to YouTube, which shows multiple clips of different scenarios from the game, including melee combat, ranged combat, riding mounts, and fighting bosses. For gamers who have playedElden Ringsince its release, the change could take a lot of getting used to, but it’s definitely a fresh new way to experience the game and is a great experience to start a new playthrough. Perhaps most intriguing is how the mod would affectElden Ring’s combat, with Soulslikes traditionally famous for their difficult-yet-rewarding combat systems.
Mods that change players' traditional perspectives in third-person games are always interesting, as it allows gamers to experience titles in ways the developers never originally intended. A recent notable example is thefirst-person mod for the originalDead Space, which was particularly effective in a horror environment.Elden Ring’s world is massive, and the first-person perspective would be an immersive way to traverse The Lands Between.
When it was first released in early 2022,Elden Ringwas an enormous success for developer FromSoftware. It would go on to shatter many of the sales numbers from the developer’s past titles. The title’s popularity has resulted in the reveal of theinitial expansion forElden Ringcalled Shadow of the Erdtree. It’s currently unknown when players can expect to get their hands on the latest content forElden Ring,but gamers will be hoping more news is forthcoming soon. At the moment, FromSoftware is engaged in working on the upcomingArmored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. Because of this, it could be a while before players hear about a potentialElden Ringsequel if the company decides to go down this route.
