It isn’t unusual for players to put hundreds of hours into some of their favorite games, especially if those games promise to give players an epic experience from start to finish. However, some players may argue they have put an unhealthy amount of time into some games, and oneElden Ringplayer appears to admit that by sharing their incredibly high playtime across two characters.
Elden Ringis the latest game from developer From Software following in the gameplay style of previous titles likeDemon’s SoulsandSekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The game is set in the mysterious Lands Between where players take on the role of a Tarnished, an exiled warrior traversing the Lands Between in hopes of reforging the titular ring to become the new Elden Lord. Standing in their way are the demigod lords of the Lands Between, each wielding a piece of the shattered ring, along with other powerful warriors and monsters roaming this dangerous world.

Given the higher difficulty of From Software’s games, it is normal for players to sink a good amount of time in games likeElden RingorBloodbornedue to exploration and difficult boss battles. Reddit user Rikabilly took this to an extreme level, though, between their twocharacters inElden Ringand decided to share the total playtime on the game’s official subreddit. Rikabilly’s first character clocked in the most time at 999 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds while only putting in 293 hours, 42 minutes, and 43 seconds into the second character.
Rikabilly’s total playtime was met with both shock and humor in the comments, with manyReddit usersstunned by his ability to put in nearly 1300 hours intoElden Ringsince February 2022. This shock would typically be followed by other users joking about Rikabilly possibly lacking a social life, something Rikabilly was more than happy to play along with between his post’s title and subsequent responses.
As shocking as the total playtime may be to some players, though, it is largely due to the playtime on the first character and total playtime between the two. Rikabilly’s second character may also have a very high playtime attached, but it isn’t so uncommon given some of the games out there for players to enjoy. Players only need to look to the aforementionedWitcher 3to see proof as the developerCD Projekt Redsaid the launch game would take well over 100 hours to complete, and the subsequent expansionsBlood and WineandHearts of Stonesignificantly increased the playtime to well over 200 hours needed to complete the game.
