A new armor set that will appear inElden Ring’s highly anticipatedShadow of the ErdtreeDLC has just been revealed online. In addition to introducing new quests and characters, the expansion is expected to provide players with a host of new gear to use for their adventures across the Lands Between.
Shadow of the Erdtree, the first and final expansion of FromSoftware’s critically acclaimedElden Ring, is slated to be launched on June 21. It promises to immerse players in an all-new story set in the Land of Shadow that will feature new enemies and dungeons. The expansion will also add new weapons and equipment to the game, with one new set having already been unveiled even before the DLC was released.
In a post with the #ShadowoftheErdtree hashtag, the officialElden RingTwitter account shared a photo of an unidentified blond-haired character donning an intricately designed armor set that was never included in the base game. The character also wielded an equally ornate sword that will most likely appear in the expansion as well. The gold and white armor set seemingly appeared in the recentstory trailer forShadow of the Erdtreeas the wardrobe of one of the kneeling characters who showed up at the end.
New Armor Set in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
One Twitter user claimed that the armor was a reference toDark Souls 2, a title that is considered to be one ofFromSoftware’s hardest games to play. Others, meanwhile, speculated that the unnamed character could be Miquella, the brother of fellow demigod Malenia and the creator ofElden Ring’s brutal Haligtree dungeon. While Miquella was a background character in the base game, he will be the central figure of the expansion.
Anothermajor character inElden Ring’sShadow of the ErdtreeDLC will be Messmer the Impaler, a mysterious figure that has been prominently featured in the expansion’s marketing. Messmer, who rivals other demigods, could be connected to Miquella’s family or to the Golden Order that is prevalent in the Lands Between. They could also be related to Rykard, as both characters have snakes as part of their motifs.
Shadow will also be another important element of Messmer’s design, FromSoftware president andElden Ringdirector Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed in a February interview. Miyazaki added that players will discover why Messmer was never mentioned in the base game’s lore and why he exists inShadow of the Erdtree’s Land of Shadow.
