AnOverwatch 2player published a video from their latest match where they wiped out the entire enemy team as Kiriko but didn’t get the Play of the Game, which is supposed to highlight a game-changing action. Being featured in the Play of the Game at the end of anOverwatch 2match is the goal for many players, but some cannot obtain it no matter how much of an impact they had on their games.

The Play of the Game is one of the most rewarding features ofOverwatch 2. At the end of each game, an algorithm is supposed to determine which play was the most impactful and showcase it for all players to see. The Play of the Game opens with a Highlight Intro of the selected character and presents a game-changing moment from the player’s perspective. While thisOverwatch 2Play of the Game often features multiple killsor the impactful use of an Ultimate ability, it can also highlight an environmental kill or important assists in key moments such as the Overtime.

A Reddit user known as aQuarterChub shared a clip from one of theirOverwatch 2matches where they played as Kiriko and managed to kill the entire enemy team during Overtime, allowing their team to win the game. DespiteKiriko’s initial role of healing her teammates, aQuarterChub had a bigger impact on their game by throwing kunai at their enemies and killing them all one by one. However, once the Play of the Game showed up, they were surprised to see that their game-changing action was not the highlight of the match. To see full video, click here.

In the comments to this Reddit post, otherOverwatch 2players were not as surprised that Kiriko’s action was not selected as the Play of the Game. They noticed that even if Kiriko wiped out the entire enemy team, the kills were too spread out to be featured in the Play of the Game. Kiriko killed her enemies one by one over a 30 seconds time frame, while the Play of the Game clips usually last less than 20 seconds.Overwatch 2would therefore select another game-changing momentwhere kills are closer, such as a multi-kill action caused by an Ultimate ability.

Overwatch 2Plays of the Game not only highlight the best action from a match, but they are often a nice way to recognize players who performed well. However, these clips are sometimes funnier than they should be, especially when things don’t go as planned such as aPlay of The Game clip inOverwatch 2that was cut short by Pharah blowing herself upafter a quadruple kill.

Overwatch 2is out now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
