As many will know, Pandora is the name of the alien planet that was the primary setting ofthe2009Avatar film, and is an integral setting to the franchise as a whole. Pandora is the home to the indigenous Na’vi species, a tall, blue, and humanoid race that are the main focus of the franchise.
Avatar: The Frontiers of Pandorais predictably set on Pandora, more specifically the Western Frontier of the planet. With the planet being quite sizable, this Western Frontier is billed as an area of Pandora that has never been seen before, lending creative liberty for the developers to showcase stunning new facets of flora and fauna within this brand-new environment without being constricted to what appeared in the film.
The story ofThe Frontiers of Pandorawill see players take control of a Na’vi who embarks on a journey across the aforementioned frontier, with a focus on dynamic exploration and interaction with the Pandora environment and other characters and entities. Like the film, the main antagonistic force within the game appears to be the forces ofthe RDA, a human organization. The RDA, who originally attempted to earn the trust of the Na’vi through telepathically-linked and lab-bred Na’vi bodies known as Avatars, have no qualms with slaughtering the Na’vi and desecrating their home-world in the pursuit of a rare element native to Pandora called Unobtainium.
