One gamer has decided to make their own Pip-Boy that resembles a 1950s-era car aesthetic.
Reddit user Aperturelab1 recently shared a video highlighting their custom Pip-Boy. The clip begins with the gamer approaching their Pip-Boy that’s resting on a platform. The Reddit user closes a compartment to show aFalloutlogo inside a sun design that sits where the baby blue and white color scheme meets. They then lift the Pip-Boy to closely observe the key details like a screen in the middle of what looks like a car radio with a unique Pip-Boy logo above two knobs, two speakers, and a USB port. The gamer then clamps their arm into the Pip-Boy and loads an RCA tape into its top compartment to play aniconicFalloutsong.
What Is This Pip-Boy Made Of?
The tape is played by pressing one of the buttons above the screen, while the volume can be adjusted with the knob on the left of the unit. Withthe in-gameFalloutPip-Boys, these knobs are also used to navigate the menu which is displayed on the screen. The gamer then turns their arm upside down to show something that resembles a glove compartment that can be used to hold things like a small wrench and a portable soldering iron. There seem to be some dials that don’t serve a purpose on the custom Pip-Boy, but add to the vintage car aesthetic. The unit is powered by four 18650 batteries, and it’s mostly made of stainless steel.
Despite sharing few similarities with in-game Pip-Boys aesthetically, it features the most important components. The addition of a holding compartment shows another way the portable computer could be used. While this isn’t the firstfan-madeFalloutPip-Boy, it may be among the most unique.
