As reported by Japanese gaming publication Famitsu, the director ofFinal Fantasy 14, Naoki Yoshida, talked about the possibility of creating an animated or television series based on the MMORPG in a joint interview. Yoshida revealed that he is open to the idea and would possibly like to do so. However, given the many positions Yoshida is holding within Square Enix, he does not think it is possible to undertake the task for the time being. Fans will probably remember that aside from being the director ofFF14, he is the Head of Creative Business Unit III, which is responsible forFinal Fantasy 16, as well as part of the company’s Final Fantasy Committee.

Fortunately, it seems Yoshida is not completely closing doors to a possibleFinal Fantasy 14animeor TV series, stating that the MMORPG has not denied any requests yet. In fact, he shares that they already have inquiries about such a project. However, he currently does not seem to have any plans to push through with it but reassures the fans that, if and when he does, Square Enix will deliver “something of solid quality.”

Players will likely recall that a Korean animated commercial forFinal Fantasy 14was released some time ago, and this indicates the type of quality the game’s team will probably deliver when they finally decide to make an anime or television series. Until then, fans will have to be satisfied with the already confirmedupcomingFinal Fantasy 14contentthe devs are promising to implement.
