AFortniteplayer has figured out a way to complete one of the battle royale’s more tedious weekly challenges, traveling on top of a chunk of Kinetic Ore. Chapter 4 ofFortnitehas led to some interesting changes. One big change is that weekly challenges are only temporarily available, rather than season-long. As such,Fortniteplayers are having to rush to complete challenges before each week resets, and are open to all the help they can get.
Kinetic Ore is a unique material added forFortniteChapter 4. It’s found almost entirely in the new named location Shatter Slabs, though chunks can be found in surprising places across the map, too. Kinetic Ore is much like theStasis mechanic inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, where players can freeze an object in time and then build up force to move it using attacks. After building up energy, players can stand on the Kinetic Ore and launch themselves into the air.

One ofFortnite’s weekly questsis to “Travel distance using Kinetic Ore.” It’s also a multi-stage quest, with each stage requiringFortniteplayers travel an increased distance. The first stage is just 50 meters, but it jumps substantially higher with each stage. In other words, it can get pretty frustrating to complete since Kinetic Ore isn’t exactly a smooth ride. But oneFortniteplayer has figured out that there’s a quick way to complete the challenge using a Shockwave Hammer.
Typically, tocharge Kinetic Ore with energyplayers have to stand beside it and swing their pickaxe to build up energy in it. They then jump on the Kinetic Ore, launch a small distance, and then start over again. With the Shockwave Hammer, half the work is cut out. Players can leap on top of the Kinetic Ore, swing the hammer in an attack, and then ride.
The Shockwave Hammer is unique in that its attack hits downward, so standing on top of the Kinetic Ore is perfect both to charge the ore with energy and for preparing to launch into the air. The Shockwave Hammer’s energy also leads to immediate movement by the Kinetic Ore, rather than having to wait for the ore to trigger over time. It’s significantly faster and easier to do when compared to using a pickaxe.
There are still issues using the Shockwave Hammer on Kinetic Ore, of course. The Kinetic Ore still doesn’t travel straight or particular high into the air. Players will be tossed away and will have to find their ore, and reposition themselves. The Hammer also has to recharge attacks, so it can’t be used super quickly.Finding a Shockwave Hammerin the first place can also be a challenge in itself some rounds ofFortnite. But overall, this trick will certainly help someFortniteplayers complete the weekly challenge and gain some easy XP.
Fortniteis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
