TheFortnitecommunity is no stranger to dealing with leaks, as the game’s upcoming content has been speculated on and even revealed by dataminers and leakers. Just recently,Fortniteleaks showed rift beaconsmay be returning to the game at the end of season 2.
With a game likeFortnitethat gets updated so often with large swathes of content, it’s only to be expected that dataminers find hints of upcoming content ahead of time. This time, however, it seems the PlayStation store may have just leaked season 3’s doomsday event through an image showing a glimpse of a flooded map.

Fortniteplayers have known for quite some time that some sort of doomsday event similar to the game’s blackhole event would be coming at the end of season 2 of chapter 2. A little over a week ago, theFortnite’s loading screens began showing timersbasically confirming that some big event would be coming to change the game drastically in the near future. After the massive success that was the blackhole event, both with the player base and the virality of the event itself on social media platforms, it was a safe bet that Epic Games would set up something similar.
Naturally, players began speculating all across the internet what doomsday event would end season 2 and kick off season 3. Late last week, dataminers on Twitter found that new and updated swimming animations were added to the game’s codesuggesting that map would get floodedleading into season 3. Now, it seems an image on the PlayStation store, which has been changed during the process of writing this piece, has all but confirmed that the map will get flooded after all. The image in question shows the battle bus – which is normally shown far above the map up in the air – is hovering over the sea, with bits of land peaking out of the water in the background.
While nothing has been officially confirmed regarding this next doomsday event, the image in question is brand new and tied to the game’s official PlayStation store page. HavingFortnite’s map completely flooded or having the sea level rise drastically is sure to bring some pretty significant changes to the battle royale mode. As many players are painfully aware, the game’sseason 3 chapter 2 content was delayedtwice over the last couple months. Undoubtedly those delays were in preparation for the significant changes that the next doomsday event would bring.
Now, it seems the only big question that remains iswhen season 2 will end and season 3 begins, as the transition period will be important. Season 2 comes to an end officially on June 11, so there isn’t too much time to wait. Epic will no doubt begin the transition period soon as season 2 reaches its close.
