Fortniteis rolling out its latest update, v22.10, which adds several new items, new features, and swaps a couple of items in and out of the vault. Starting today,Fortniteplayers can get their hands on the Cobra DMR, Holo-Chests, a detailed squad comm wheel, and plenty more.

Epic Games' ever-popular free-to-play battle royale title launched its chrome-filled Chapter 3 Season 4 a few weeks ago, substantially altering the current version of the island. While reception to the new season’s content and mechanics seems to have been well-received, many players are findingFortnite’s latest Battle Pass to be pretty underwhelming, with a lack of high-level Emotes and Spider-Gwen the one major skin highlight.

Fortnite’s biggest addition for its latest update is arguably the new Cobra DMR. Compared to the normal DMR, which has now been vaulted, the Cobra DMR has a faster fire rate, allowing for skilled player to more successfully make ranged takedowns. They can be found from the ground, Chests, Supply Drops, fishing, Loot Sharks, and Reality Sapling Fruit. Another major component of the update are the new Holo-Chests. While players this season have beenusing Keys to open vaultsaround the island, the new item can now be used on Holo-Chests, which displays a holographic preview of what’s inside.

The new update also vaults the Boogie Bomb, while unvaultinglast season’s Grapple Glove. The item appears to function identically to the last time it was in the loot pool, with the Grapple Glove able to swing the user from almost any surface in addition to pulling items towards them. However, instead of Grapple Glove Toolboxes, they can be found anywhere. Additionally, those who unlock The Nothing’s Gift Pickaxe in the Battle Pass will unlock Bytes Quests, which unlocks a variety of alt styles for the pickaxe.

Fortnitev22.10 also marks the addition of this season’s Super Level styles, as well as a more detailed squad comm wheel. Players will be able to unlock Celestial, Spectral, and Aurelian styles for the majority of this season’s Battle Pass skins starting on October 6 past level 140. The new squad comm wheel includes more detailed call-outs to better communicate with squadmates, including icons for “Watch this spot” or “Defend here.” While other human players may or may not listen, the commands areespecially helpful forFortnite’s NPCs, which have recently become more useful.

The one thing fans may still be searching for is any sort of Halloween-themed content. While it won’t be arriving for a couple of weeks, fans can rest assured thatFortnite’s Fortnitemares Halloween eventwill be returning this year. Officially announced to begin October 18, fans can expect plenty of spooky content later this month.

Fortniteis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
