In 2018’sGod of Warand a significant portion of its sequel, Freya is unable to freely traversethe Nine Realms. In order to break the spell that Odin cast on her, she decides to put her grudge against Kratos aside and go to Vanaheim, where the two Gods fight Nidhogg, one of the most exciting bosses in the game. After players defeat the powerful dragon, Freya obtains her freedom and realizes that her true enemy is Odin.

With this realization, the Witch of the Woods chooses to continue to fight alongside Kratos rather than against him. She also forgives her brother,Freyr, who she reunites with in Vanaheim. Odin in God of War Ragnarok

Freya Helping Defeat Odin

Besides Freya, one of the other gods that join the heroes in their journey is Tyr, or so it had seemed throughout the majority of the game. However, in the final hours ofGod of War Ragnarok,Odinreveals himself to have taken on Tyr’s form and had been spying on his opponents throughout their journey. He kills Brok, one of the heroes, and retreats to Asgard before starting a war against the rest of the Nine Realms. Freya, along with the other heroes, gather armies from the realms to join them in their battle. They all go to Asgard together, where Freya, Kratos, and Atreus encounter the Allfather one last time.

Odin fights the Witch of the Woods and her comrades, and he ultimately loses as Atreus traps his soul into a marble. Atreus and Kratos choose to give the marble to Freya, who, upon receiving it, realizes that she doesn’t need to kill him. Finally having her revenge, simply defeating him satisfies the Witch of the Woods, and she gives the marble back to Atreus. Sindri then takes the marble and breaks it,killing the Allfather. With Odin gone, Freya finds a new family through her comrades and continues her adventures with Kratos and Mimir.
