Grand Theft Auto 3 is Getting a Fan-Made Dreamcast Port
While development was eventually shifted to the PS2,Grand Theft Auto 3started as a Sega Dreamcast game. Unfortunately, the Sega Dreamcast flopped and found itself unable to compete with the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox. The decision was then made to shiftGrand Theft Auto 3development to thesignificantly more successful PS2, and the rest is history. But sinceGTA 3was once planned as a Dreamcast game, it’s fitting that this fan project is finally making it a reality.
Right now, those interested in playing the originalGrand Theft Auto 3will have to dig out a PS2 or Xbox or have already purchased a digital version of the game. Otherwise, the only option is theDefinitive EditionofGTA 3, which, as previously mentioned, has some unique problems that make it far less appealing than the 2001 original.
