Hades 2has officially begun its technical testing phase, sending out keys to randomly selected players. As the testing continues, more keys will be sent out so that the studio can flesh out any bugs or problems that players might run into. The new vibrant cast of characters has captured the minds and imaginations of fans ever since the first trailer, and from the first impressions, it seems that the wait has been worth it. One of the key new characters isHecate, the goddess of magic, crossroads, and much more.
She appears to be a mentor figure for Melinoe, the protagonist ofHades 2, having trained and prepared her in the arts of magic. It is hard to say just how deep their relationship goes and what else might have transpired between them, but there are hints that Hecate might know more than she is telling Melinoe, at least at the moment. However, it looks like Hecate will play a much bigger role than a simple “conversational” NPC. She is a strict but helpful teacher, showing new ways that Melinoe can improve her powers. On top of that, she is actually the boss for the first area in the game, much like the Furies were in the first game.
Hecate Is A Great Choice For A Mentor Figure
Hecate is a very complex figure in Greek mythology, often depicted as the goddess associated with magic, crossroads, and the moon. She plays an important role in both the mortal and divine realms by guiding souls and granting blessings, making her the perfect figure to be in the middle of the new game. Her portrayal varies from a benevolent protector to a fearsome deity embodying the unknown, and only time will tell which version of her players will end up seeing.
Hecate Is As Interesting As a Character, As She Is A Boss
Her portrayal in the game seems to pay great homage to her Greek origins and seemingly expands on the existing lore,much in the style of the firstHades. Her stake in the overarching conflict isn’t clear so far, but she is dead-set on pushing Melinoe until she accomplishes her goal of defeating Chronos. Much like with Hades himself in the first game, it’s interesting to see if she has any other forms or special abilities that will be shown later.
Hecate Will Play Many Important Roles
The Crossroads seem to play the same role that the House of Hades did, being the main hub for Melinoe, and Hecate seems to visually occupy Hades’ place, standing tall above others in the room. WithHecate definitively in chargethere, it will be interesting to see how she manages to run the place or if she will have more technical roles than Hades did in the first game.
Hecate Might Be As Key As Hades Was To The First Game
It’s possible that she will appear in other parts of the game or eventually grant her own boons to Melinoe. Or perhaps she might come in as a merchant during the later stages of a run, providing her with much-needed assistance. One thing is for certain: she is incredibly determined to see Chronos fall and willassist Melinoe in any wayshe can.
WithHades 2Early Access on the horizon, the game is finally on the road toward its full release, but the studio has yet to set a final date. Still, as the Technical Testing and Early Access continue to roll out, more and more content should be available to be played and enjoyed. So far, the game looks to be exactly what the fans have been hoping for, and excitement only continues to grow with all the new gameplay and information that has been released so far. The combat looks crisp and quick, there are tons of new abilities and mechanics to play with, and it is reasonable to think that there will be much, much more to see in the future.
