The mod is relatively simple, as it turns all the spiders in the game into plain boxes. While it doesn’t remove the spider’s mechanics, such as attacking the players, it removes the visual element from the game. This could be perfect for players with a phobia of spiders. While the mod might take some players out of the experience for a moment, for many this would be much better than the alternative. This feature perhaps should have come default with the game. For example,Groundedfeatured an arachnophobia modewhich was lauded as a huge step forward for accessibility. However, it’s good that players have been able to mod it into the game so fast.

Though the mod works, it’s still a work in progress, with a couple of bugs preventing it from perfection. One bug for the mod reports that dead spiders that are hand-placed are still the original models, which isn’t great if someone using the mod isn’t expecting to see it. The mod author is aware of the issues, and is hard at work eradicating any final spiders that can be found inHogwarts Legacy. The mod is still worth looking at, and it shouldn’t be long until the mod is fully complete. It’s good to see so many fan creations coming out ofHogwarts Legacyso soon after release. While some add to the game, some are creating within it, withone player recreatingThe Last of Us’Ellie inHogwarts Legacy.

WithHogwarts Legacynow available to the public, developer Avalanche Software will be hoping it can move past the noise surrounding the game pre-release. Most of the controversy was caused by J.K. Rowling’s transphobic comments, which have led to a boycott of the game in many communities. Avalanche Software made its feelings on the matter clear, adding atransgender character toHogwarts Legacy. The studio’s focus will now be on supporting the game post-launch. While no DLC has officially been confirmed for the title, if sales figures are high then players can definitely expect further content forHogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacyis now available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming April 4 and the Switch version launching on July 25.
