Hogwarts Legacyis first and foremost a single-player experience set in the world ofHarry Potter,but it is only a matter of time before the modding community makes it possible for players to explore the Wizarding World together.Hogwarts Legacyhas only been out for a week (if including the three-day early access), and there is already some light at the end of the proverbial tunnel for players who are hoping to party up with some friends in the game.
There has been adark cloud of controversy surroundingHogwarts Legacy, but that has not stopped it from becoming a best-selling game. TheHarry Potterbook series has had record-breaking sales and has millions of fans around the world who at some point or other in their lives dreamed of receiving their Hogwarts letter.Hogwarts Legacyallows the droves ofHarry Potterfans to finally live out that fantasy, albeit in a video game. And while it didn’t do much to slow the hype train for the game, undoubtedly there are many fans who lament the absence of multiplayer.

The Together Team, creator of theSkyrim Togethermod, has released a video showcasing an early build ofHogWarpthat shows two players exploringHogwarts Legacytogether. The mod is still in early development and as such is not available yet, but The Together Team will give their Patreon supporters early access toHogWarp.The video in question shows that the mod is still very much a work-in-progress: the players' movements are quite jittery, and the day/night cycle is not synchronized. Nevertheless, it is exciting to see that it will be possible forHogwarts Legacyplayers to enjoy the game togetherat some point so early in the game’s life.
Hogwarts Legacyis smashing sales recordseven amid the unfortunate yet understandable contention surrounding the game. The numberof new mods and features a game receives is proportional to the popularity of the game, so fans can likely expect many weird and wonderful mods that will enhance or otherwise alter theHogwarts Legacyexperience. There are already dozens of mods available on for players to experiment with, a number that will doubtless continue to grow throughout the game’s life.
Hogwarts Legacyis receiving excellent user scoreson Metacritic and has received a generally favorable critical response in spite of the fact that there is no multiplayer to begin with. To make the experience more enjoyable, the modding community often introduces features that the developers chose not to include, and the only thing better than exploring an exciting magical world would be to explore it together with friends.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports release on April 4, and the Nintendo Switch version is arriving Jun 30, 2025.
