Aventurine joins the roster ofHonkai: Star Railas the second limited Preservation 5-star character, offering players an entirely differentdefensive option compared to Fu Xuan, especially for those who prefer shielding over damage mitigation. Furthermore, unlike other shield-generating characters, Aventurine can provide a stackable shield for the entire party through his skill, making him an excellent choice for tackling difficult content, especially if players struggle to keep their party alive.
Similar tomost Preservation characters, Aventurine also scales with DEF, allowing him to make good use of a variety of light cones from different rarities or obtain methods. Therefore, it’s recommended that players aim to get his DEF to at least 4000 in order to also build him as a sub-DPS. Increasing his DEF to this cap will not only allow him to generate stronger shields but also provide him with a decent amount of Crit Rate, making him easy to build as a sub-DPS. As all 4-star rarity light cones currently available offer the same DEF increase at the same ratioon the same superimposition level, Trend Of The Universal Market falls behind other 4-star rarity options for this team, particularly due to its lack of versatility. The Burn effect it provides typically won’t offer significant additional benefits to the party unless playersplan to pair Aventurine with Acheronor a DoT team, where an extra method of generating stacks may be needed for her, or similarly for Dr. Ratio. In such cases, this light cone may prove advantageous over other options. However, for any other team composition, it is not recommended.

As another Gacha option, Day One Of My New Life can perform better and provide an easier defensive option compared to Trend Of The Universal Market. Its secondary effect offers damage mitigation, along with a slightly higher base DEF value. However, the choice between these two options may depend on which one has a higher superimposition level, as the difference in performance will not significantly vary.

While not a F2P friendly option, as it is only available through Nameless Honor (Battle Pass), for those who have obtained it, This Is Me can be a quite solid option. Not only does it have an even higher base DEF than the previous two, but it also contributes to Aventurine’s own damage whenever he uses his Ultimate. As such, those seekinga hybrid between DPS and shieldingcan best utilize This Is Me to its full potential while still primarily focusing on Aventurine’s DEF stat.
Increases the wearer’s Effect RES by12%. For every 100 of DEF the wearer has, increases the DMG dealt by0.8%to a max increase of32%.
Another excellent lightcone option for increasing Aventurine’s DPS output is Destiny’s Threads Forewoven, as long as players are able to achieve a 4k DEF value without requiring the DEF bonus of a lightcone. If that is the case, since this lightcone’s damage scaling also caps at 4k, it aligns perfectly with Aventurine’s requirement. Considering that it is a F2P option obtainable through the Memory of Chaos store, it can be perfect for increasing Aventurine’s DPS with minimal investment, in terms of min-maxing DMG related stats through his relics.

Another relatively new Preservation light cone, Concert For Two, offers the best 4-star option for a hybrid defensive and sub-DPS Aventurine build. He can easily make good use of its secondary effect to significantly increase his damage output, thanks to his ability to provide stackable shields to all allies. At higher superimposition levels, it can even surpass 5-star options like Moment of Victory in this aspect.

For those who have already obtained Moment of Victory from the standard Gacha pool, it can serve as an excellent option to equip on Aventurine, thanks to its higher DEF value at superimposition 1 compared to 4-star rarity light cones on the list. While Effect Hit Rate may not be as significant for Aventurine, if he is attacked, he will be able to further increase his DEF, allowing him to provide even stronger shields for his allies or potentially more damage if players were not able to acquire 4k DEF by other means. However, it is worth noting that it is not recommended for players to spend Undying Starlight in the Starlight Exchange shop to obtain it, since 4-star options can perform just as well for Aventurine.

Being his signature light cone, there is no doubt that Aventurine’s best option is Inherently Unjust Destiny, which not only provides a significant DEF boost for him but also increases his Crit DMG, as well as enabling him to deal more damage when helaunches a follow-up attack. This light cone can surely allow players to have an even easier time min-maxing his stats through his relics and reaching the required DEF cap. However, inherently, as he is not a core DPS character, he is not as reliant on it for his overall performance, unlike certain DPS characters likeAcheron, who require further investments such as light conesor specific team compositions to perform as well.
