Death Stranding 2 Should Continue Improving Private Rooms
Most ofDeath Strandinginvolves players making grueling deliveries across the map, and ensuring their precious cargo is not damaged. Doing so is tough because America’s infrastructure has been destroyed, which means players have to wrestle with the natural landscape, and this often involves climbing, swimming, or using ropes and ladders. When players aren’t out working themselves into a sweat, they can recuperate in Private Rooms, which serves as thesafe houses forDeath Stranding.
The Private Rooms are a great place to relax. Players can throw on somemusic by Low Roaras they read through their messages, and brush up on gameplay tips. Players can also admire their weapons, play with Lou, and customize their clothing - or the Private Rooms themselves. Perhaps most importantly, Sam Bridges can shower and use the bathroom. His bodily fluids are harvested and used to make weapons that are very useful against the BTs.

The nextDeath Strandinggame should continue building on the foundation laid by the first game. Private Rooms should be bigger and better, allowing for more customization. Players should be able to make the rooms feel genuinely unique. Furthermore, there should be more activities for players to engage in. The Private Room is the only location where players can freely listen to the game’s soundtrack, so there should be plenty of good reasons for players to spend time in them. Private Rooms were one of the high points ofDeath Stranding, and with the right tweaks they can shine again in the sequel.
Death Stranding 2 Should Expand the ‘Strand’ Genre
WithDeath Stranding,Kojima claims he pioneered the Strand genre. Put simply, the Strand genre groups together games that are single-player at heart, but feature asynchronous multiplayer elements that have players cooperating instead of battling each other. InDeath Stranding, players can help each other build structures such as bridges and ramps by pooling resources together. Furthermore, players can put up signs that give players hints about possible dangers they may face ahead.
AlthoughDeath Strandingwas a good introduction to the idea, the next game should take things further and demonstrate even more creative ways this genre can be used. The first trailer suggests thatDeath Stranding 2will be taking things underwater. This could open the door for players to build new structures such as underwater transportation paths and watchtowers to scour the ocean floor. With more opportunities for players to cooperate,Death Stranding 2could further legitimize the Strand genre.
According to some leaks, fans shouldn’t expect to seeDeath Stranding 2until 2024. Although this seems like a long wait, it also means that Kojima Productions is spending a lot of time to ensure it delivers a polished product.Death Strandingwas a polarizing game, and its sequel will likely leave people equally divided, but pre-established fans are undoubtedly in for a good time.
