Final Fantasy 16follows Clive Rosfield as he travels across the vast world of Valisthea in the hope of uncovering answers. On his journey, he regularly ends up visiting new locations, and though most areas are free to be explored without question, certain areas are off-limits until later points in the story.

During his visit to Eastpool, Clive gets the chance to explore an area that has been affected by the Blight. Though the area itself is rather barren, there is a locked door there that he expresses interest in.

Two new DLCs forFinal Fantasy 16were officially unveiled at 2023’s Game Awards. To the joy of many, the first DLC, entitled “Echoes of the Fallen,” released shortly after the event; The Rising Tide is set to debut in Spring.

With theEchoes of the FallenDLC, fans hoping to uncover what waits behind the mysterious door in The Dim can finally do so, but only after they reach a particular part in the story and complete a set of side quests. For those unsure, this guide clarifies what needs to be done in order for them to open the door in The Dim and begin theEchoes of the FallenDLC.

How To Start Echoes Of The Fallen And Open The Door In The Dim

Once players have access to theEchoes of the FallenDLC, they will need to complete a few objectives before they can access what waits for them in The Dim. Thankfully, anoutline of what needs to be donewas made available by Square Enix, and the process is pretty straightforward.

Once these four side quests have been completed, Clive can travel to The Hideaway andspeak with Charonto begin theEchoes of the FallenDLC.

Clive will then be prompted to speak with Joshua, after which he can travel to Port Isolde to continue the story. Interacting with the NPC here will truly begin theEchoes of the FallenDLC and will prevent players from using the fast travel feature until they reach the door in The Dim.

Once the conversation ends, Clive can follow the path through the Quietsands until he reaches theBewit Bridge. After a short cutscene, he can continue forward toThe Auldhyl Docks. where players can take the path to the north to find the traders.

The Sagespire in Final Fantasy 16

After a battle with someSharp Shards, Clive can continue north toward Sorrowise, where players will be treated to another brief cutscene. The traders can be foundat the northernmost point of this area, but approaching them results in aLv. 90 Akashic Bighornattacking.

Upon defeating the Bighorn, players will regain access tothe fast travel systemand can use it to reachEastpool. From here, players should proceed north until they encounter a group of Goblins. SinceThe Dim prevents Clive from using magic, he will need to rely on physical attacks to defeat the enemies here.

Once the Goblins have been dealt with, players can proceed west to find thatthe previously locked door in The Dim is now open. To get inside, all players need to do isfast travel to The Sagespiremarker on the map.

What’s New In The Echoes Of The Fallen DLC?

TheEchoes of the Fallenquestline takes place before the events of the final battle and follows Clive as he tries to uncover the significance of a strangely colored crystal. His search for answers leads him toThe Sagespire, a Fallen ruin that’s behind the door in The Dim. These ruins are chock-full of dangers, and those willing to face them will eventually be tasked with defeatingOmega, aniconicFinal Fantasysuperbossthat has made several appearances throughout the series.

TheEchoes of the FallenDLC brings with itseveral new items and featuresfor players to enjoy. Clive can visit new areas, meet new characters, and acquire new accessories as part of it. The DLC also comes with two bonus items:

Anew level caphas also been introduced, allowing players to earn an additional five levels above the previous level cap. Story and Action Focused Mode players can now reach level 55, whileFINAL FANTASY Modeplayers can reach level 105.
