It also has a massive array of character representation across the game, from playable fighters, to spirits, to different Mii costumes. Only one more DLC fighter forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateremains, which will conclude the game’s DLC development. While fans clamor to debate about what character or video game franchise should be represented as the final DLC fighter, Nintendo has also shown a willingness to add special Mii costumes to the mix.
Recently,Super Smash Bros. Ultimateconfirmed several new Mii costumeswould be added to the game, including some franchises that fans have been hopeful for. Characters like the Dragonborn fromSkyrimandLloyd Irving fromTales of Symphoniaare now playable as Mii Swordfighters, as well as Dante fromDevil May Cry. The indie scene received some representation as well, as the titular character from WayForward’sShantaeseries is now playable as a Mii Brawler. With other indie representation inSuper Smash Bros. Zagreus from Hades
One of the best indie games to come out of 2020,Hadeshas captured the hearts of millions of players. Not only do manyHadesfans want to see the game’s protagonist in Nintendo’s fighting game, but eventhe creative director forHadeswants Zagreus inSmash. Even though Zagreus could have plenty of potential as the final DLC fighter, his inclusion as a Mii costume or special fighter would be well-deserved. Plus, the incredible music in Supergiant Games’Hadescould easily translate into aSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatemusic track.
Zagreus could also have the unique potential to have a version for each Mii fighter class, since there aremultiple weapons he can use inHades. Zagreus using his Stygian Blade could be a Mii Swordfighter, while him using the Coronacht bow could work for a Mii Gunner. A Mii Brawler version of Zagreus could make use of his Aegis shield, or even the Twin Fists of Malphon.

The Imposter from Among Us
While it’s not a new game, most are now familiar with Innersloth’sAmong Usthanks to its explosion in popularity through Twitch. In the wake ofthe newfound success forAmong Us, the developers continue to add new content and updates to the game, keeping it fresh for returning players. Now thatAmong Usis available on the Nintendo Switch, it would be fun to give this successful indie social deduction game some representation inSmash. A simple Crewmate or Imposter-themed costume could be an interesting addition, but the creation of a full-fledged Mii Brawler based on the Imposter’s attacks could also be great.
The Knight from Hollow Knight
Even thoughHollow Knight: Silksongmay not release in 2021, the inclusion ofHollow Knightintosuper Smash Bros. Ultimatecould drum up more anticipation for the sequel’s inevitable release. The silent protagonist inHollow Knightwouldn’t be too much of a change from the typical Mii Swordfighter, making it worthy of consideration. With the success ofHollow Knight, it is interesting that the series hasn’t yet been included inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. Unless it is being considered for the final DLC fighter spot, The Knight should definitely be included in the game through Mii customization.
Shovel Knight
Ofthe many spirits inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, a few are from Yacht Club Games’Shovel Knightseries. While the titular Shovel Knight also appears as an assist trophy in game, that doesn’t erase the possibility of his inclusion as a special Mii fighter. TheShovel Knightgames also boast some fun music that could be worthwhile new tracks forSmash. Shovel Knight could have some fun costume pieces for the Mii fighters, but at least this series already has a place in Nintendo’s ultimate fighting game.
Ori from Ori and the Blind Forest
From Moon Studios and Xbox Games Studios cameOri and the Blind Forestand its sequel,Ori and the Will of the Wisps. BothOrigames are a great experience on the Switch, so the addition of their titular character intoSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatewould be a worthwhile choice for Nintendo. Ori would be a very interesting “deluxe” style Mii costume for a Mii Gunner, completely transforming the fighter instead of just being a costume piece.Super Smash Bros. Ultimateincluding theOriseries would also open up the inclusion of its amazing music as new tracks.
Overall, these are just five examples of the numerous indie games that would be fun to add intoSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatein some way. The development cycle forUltimatemay be winding down once the final DLC fighter gets revealed, but Nintendo could always keep the game fresh with small updates such as new Mii fighter costumes.
